Mom's birthdays
« on: February 10, 2012, 04:54:25 PM »
So it is my mom's 60th bday party and she is having a pajama party with her girls tomorrow night so I went out and bought them about $300 of champagne.  I feel like my life is coming full circle.

ITT: other birthday gifts you've got for your moms.

I got our accountant $300 in champagne for doing our books last year.  Also felt good.

I'll get my mom, like, some $500 thing or whatever that I know she wanted and she is happy and junk.  Then I give her a picture box of a trip we all took together and she starts crying

pro tip:  It isn't in the plaza, so you would get lost looking for it.

When my mom tries to do something really fancy for her birthday I get her a giant bouquet of balloons along with her gift.  She likes them because she wants to be the center of attention and I like watching her drag around 20 large balloons at nice places.

Gift-wise, I usually split the difference of what SD does by getting her a gift that she'll like that reminds her of a family trip.

So true. My mom gets downright mad when I buy her nice things. No matter how much money I make, I'll always be the little boy she needs to buy new underwear for. Last time the wife and I left town and she stayed at our house to watch the kids, there was a new package of boxers in my room when I got home.

I had a photographer friend come over and we did a family photo shoot, so that mom could have a lot of very nice photographs of the family. It made her very happy.

I installed a hardwood floor spanning 2/3 of the main level of her house and remodeled two of the bedrooms.

Got her an IPOD and filled it up with all the songs she loves.

My mom is turning 80.  I had a bobble head made of her with a rolling pin.  Best cook ever...

I got two of them. Powercat would look good in the middle of that apron.
