Saw some doughnut place (non-chain) is opening on Manhattan Ave in the 'Ville for summer '11.  Tons of new restaurants lately, its hard to keep up.

Varsity Donuts. Same people that open Acme, Dusty and Thread are opening it up with the guy who owns most of Bluestem and used to be involved with The Palace. They're hoping to open in June. They're doing crazy toppings, one of which is maple bacon.

Manhattan needs a good Mexican place.  We have several, but all of them (with the exception of Los Potrillos, which is decent) are absolutely dreadful.

thank you for pointing this out. this is probably the biggest issue facing manhattan to date. if it doesn't get fixed, people may start to transfer. vive los gatos.

I have not had them, I've just seen several versions. Some are long john style donuts. The size of the bacon varies, some just have strips of bacon on top.

Great to hear about Manhattan getting more eateries, proves how this recession aint got sh*t on us.

El Tapatillo probably takes the "Best Mexican Food in MHK" crown, but then again, that's not saying a whole hell of a lot.
