Scenario I would like...

8 KState vs 9 St Bony
West region. In Detroit.
1 Xavier looming

Point me to the thread that it’s talked about.  Nigel Johnson is playing significant minutes for the number 1 team in the country.

Reasoning I don't mind being with Xavier...

UNC Duke and Cincy are all likely 2s and not easy teams. So Xavier or 2 seed Purdue I'm cool with.

Xavier can score the ball, but in their 18 BEast games they only outshot Opponents 54.4 to 54.2 eFG.  They had a slim positive TO difference.  One area they were good was FTR.... they made about 7 more FTs a game.

So anyone know how they’re going to announce the field tonight? By conference, alphabetically, or by actual seed order?

My final bracket comparo.

So anyone know how they’re going to announce the field tonight? By conference, alphabetically, or by actual seed order?

1st, the show is on TBS, not CBS at 5 PM (central) tonight.

2nd, they are going to announce all 68 teams in the field first, then brackets/seeding/regions.

I knew about the new two step thing, just curious how exactly they’re going to announce the field.

Yes, at least that's how I'm reading this.

Quote
CBS Sports and Turner Sports announced on Tuesday a format tweak for the Selection Show, which will air Sunday, March 11, at 6 p.m. ET. The show will be broadcast with a live studio audience, and every team in the field -- all 68 -- will be revealed within the first 10 minutes of the start of the show.

After the 68 teams are known, the bracket matchups will be released over the course of 30 minutes.

"The Selection Show will begin with the announcement of all 68 tournament teams, followed by the release of the brackets and match-ups, with analysis, discussion, interviews and reactions from teams as they find out if they made the 'Dance,' along with their region, seeding and opponent," according to the press release from CBS Sports and Turner Sports. "Hosts Ernie Johnson and Greg Gumbel will be joined by analysts Clark Kellogg, Charles Barkley, Seth Davis and Kenny Smith in Atlanta.  Selection Committee Chair oscar Rasmussen will also join Adam Zucker from CBS Studios in New York."

This means the revamped Selection Show will eventually provide two reveals. First, teams find out if they're in. Once all the schools who made it are known, then the show will peel back on the regions and unsheathe the brackets.

In spite of what Seth Davis says, yes.

This is from the chair of the NCAA committee:

K-State is very safe given his criteria here and in this article about selection.

We're also on 82 out of 84 brackets on Bracket Matrix.  Strangely enough, UT is on 84/84 despite the fact that our average seed according to bracketologists is at least 3 better than UT.

Outside of our bubble (ha!), they'd get virtually no blowback for snub'n KSU.

Yep. SDSU and Davidson are unexpected entries to the Field.  2 bubble spots no longer there

I will be somewhat surprised if OU Creighton Texas Ucla don't make it.  Ariz St wouldn't shock me at all if they don't make it.

Most people have Creighton in the 8 Vs 9 game.  I just don't think they belong there.  They ended with this....
20-11 overall
Q1 2-9 record
Q2 5-2 record
Q3/Q4 13-0 record
SOS 51
1-7 on road vs Q1/Q2
1-2 on neutral vs Q1/Q2

Do they officially avoid conference matchups for the first two rounds or is that a myth?
