if he's not 100% now, what was he when he came back, 30%? him coming back too soon worked out poorly for everyone involved
It didn't work out too bad.  We're in the sweet 16.

After reading about a Jones fracture, I am surprised Stokes has been able to play.
This is from a medical site on the web so it has to be correct:  A person who has had surgery to repair a Jones fracture can expect a return to all activity, including sports, 3-4 months after surgery. However, the doctor may recommend a period of physical therapy to recondition the injured area.

Most Jones fractures don't require surgery.

podcast from Fitz' appearance yesterday - 12:50 mark - Fitz says it's a "kind of like something locked up in there (his foot) and can't get it to release. bones are a little out of whack, but nothing is fractured."

what the eff is he talking about?

Hope it’s not a Lisfranc injury

When Beas gets 25 minutes, he averages 22.1 pts and 7.9 reb. Why they don't get him at least 25 min/game is beyond me.

Realism.
We have a good chance to be good this year and next.
Then what.... no great recruits in the pipeline.
In two years. ..... realism.  Enjoy the ride given to us by Claws, Flush, Deathbite, and Sneed.

Kansas State Football / Re: Delton VS Skylar
« on: November 05, 2017, 11:02:57 AM »
If that is true, Alex should have put on his big boy pants and not suited up.

You can't possibly think that's how it works. It is up to the coaches and medical staff to protect players from themselves and the culture of football. This is true for pros and it's damn true for amateurs. Football has a culture that doesn't even allow Tom Brady to pull himself with a concussion and you expect a guy who's spent his entire time in college as a back up to pull himself? Come on sdk.
Of course there is pressure for him to play. Of course Bill and KSU benefit from pressuring players to play. That is mumped and I am not a fan of that at all.

Alex, alone, is able to make a decision about his long term health and life. If he believes risking brain injuries (knee injuries for Jesse, etc) by suiting up for QB at KSU is something he wants to do. That is on him. Same is true for Jesse. Same is true for CK. Etc.

Old enough to vote, old enough to die, old enough to decide whether risking injury to play a game is what he wants to do.

You should take a lap. You obviously have no understanding of the culture of college football if you think Delton can take himself out for fear of possible injury.

Kansas State Football / Re: Can we get a depth chart?
« on: August 30, 2017, 08:59:45 AM »
Personally, I'm a little surprised that goolsby is starting as the other safety. A lot of the talk that I heard indicated that it was more between Walker and McPhereson.

Personally, I'm a little surprised that a KSU fan is a little surprised by a Snyder depth chart.

That's fair. Still didn't expect to see Goolsby.

I think they're looking to replace Barnett's ability to get players in the right position more than raw ability.  I'm not sure they view Adams in that role, at least not compared to Goolsby.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Walker be the first player to ascend on the depth chart if the defense isn't lining up right.

So, you're saying that the guy that's been a safety for less than a year is the guy on the defense that's supposed to get everyone lined up, instead of the guy that's been starting at safety for 2 years, and played the position all throughout his college career? Not really buying that.

I think that it's simply that Goolsby has shown enough, and has been in the playbook longer than Walker. I do agree with your premise that Walker will be in that spot quickly if Goolsby doesn't play assignment sound. Hopefully Walker is all caught up by conference play.

This Cal pipeline is really starting to pick up. Who else is good on their roster that we can take from them?

He needs about 15-20 more lbs to run this offense, effectively, and for more than 2 snaps.

Y'all know that if Warmack leaves, he's taking his best good buddy Elijah Lee with him, right?
Y'all know Elijah is gonna be a big time Cat stud for life.

Lee is about to be a three year starter in the Big 12.  He's not going anywhere.

A+ source, coaches re-recruiting him as we speak.

What's the rationale for weed being prohibited in athletics, on top of whatever laws apply to the general public?  Competitive balance issue?

Dumbassery.  I mean, it's illegal for them to drink until they are practically out of school based on age, but we don't test for that nationally.

They technically do and alcohol is on the NCAA banned list (can't remember if it's only until 21 or just completely banned). It's absolutely not a big deal though because of how short alcohol is in the body. For the testing (assuming that D1 is the same as smaller schools at this point), the student athlete is told the day before their test, so essentially you just don't have to get drunk before the test and you're good. Caffeine is the same way. IMO, the only reason why drug tests are remotely effective is because of how long THC is in the body and because of how unregulated the supplement industry is (very easy to fail if you use the wrong preworkout).

Yeah, you're basically told 12 hours before. And it's during the week. To get caught for alcohol you'd literally have to go get drunk after they told you that you were being tested at 6 am the next morning. I sincerely doubt anyone is that dumb.

If you stay in the dorms do you still get $660 on top of them paying for housing?

No, that was for off-campus students-athletes. I believe if you lived on campus you didn't get any stipend, or it was very small.

15

so you only got 5 free meals a week?  was this college D1 or D1ish?
[/quote]

D1 P5 school. You could get 3 meals a day, but you had to live in the dorms.

The debate is valid, but Shabazz Napier claiming hunger is ridiculous.

The reality is, when I played division 1 college football (finished 5 years ago), we got $660 a month to cover rent, bills, food, gas, cell phone, and any other spending money. You're not getting additional financial aid, so that's what you live on for the month. Now, M-F you do get training table dinner (at least where I went), so at least that meal is paid for. (They've changed the rules regarding food recently, and honestly, probably a lot had to do with what Napier said.)

So, take that $660 and subtract ~$400 for rent, ~$125 for utilities (probably a little low), cell phone ~$100. See you later scholarship money. You still need gas for your car, insurance for your car, and oh yeah, you need to eat. And if you want to go out, like many college students do, that costs money as well.

If you disagree with my numbers, that's fine, you could say he has Boost and it's only $50 a month for cell phone rather than $100. And his rent is only $350. Great, you have $135 extra to get groceries now. For the month.

Credit card rookie alert

So you're saying I can cancel my CSP, turn right back around and get another, and take advantage of the new member rewards, provided I have had mine for 2 plus years already?  :Wha:

What happens to my current points? Do I need to transfer them to another card, or points program before canceling?

Really saddened, and a bit taken aback to hear this news. One of the nicest, and most genuine guys you could meet. Tragic for anyone to be taken so young, especially as he was just recently married.

On a serious note, stay in front of the pain with your meds and you'll be golden. Put reminders in your phone and take them when you're supposed to regardless of pain at the time.

Also, you might have to end up sleeping with a few pillows under your back to support you and it's going to be weird and stuff, just a heads up. I know guys that have slept in recliners the first week or two because laying down in a bed can put some weird pressure on the joint.

real talk- how are your lats and traps

Let's put it this way, it's impossible for me to water ski, not because I can't stand up, but because my lats and traps produce too much drag to pull behind a boat.

Hey, guys, I've been lurking a bit and decided to share a little story.  It's not from the 90s, but it's a slightly humorous story about Coach Snyder.

In the locker room after a meeting one day Courtney Herndon was talking about Coach Snyder and called him Bill. Coach Snyder happened to walk up right behind him as he was saying it, and asked in a very stern Coach Snyder voice "which direction do you want to run, Courtney?" Courtney was all :horrorsurprise: and asked him what he meant. Snyder told him to put his workout clothes on and meet him outside. We were all :whistle1: trying to not be guilty by association and have to run as well.

Fun fact, that near-exact thing happened to Adrian Hilburn during our pre-season photo day.

Moral of the story, don't call Coach Snyder "Bill", guys. :billdance:
