"Presidential" Election
« on: July 07, 2016, 11:51:18 AM »
Is anyone actually considering voting for either Trump or Hillary?

In one corner you have someone whose utter reckless and ignorance made her too incompetent to be indicted for crimes she blatantly committed, who is demonstrably disingenuous in every position she takes, and who has been an abject failure in her political career.

In the other corner you have a guy whose campaign strategy involves lobbing childish insults via Twitter at every one of his detractors, who has no cognizance policy position (like b.o) or coherent agenda, and who has spent $0 advertising in the couple months.

Can you even fathom what a debate among these people might look like? This can't be reality.

I don't even like Gary, but I see him as the only viable option. If I vote, it will be for him or the yet tbd white night.

Not that I disagree with most of this.  Using the abject failure in her political career as a descriptor of Hillary seems erroneous seeing that she is on the verge of becoming elected POTUS.  That's not really failure, but substantial achievement, imo.

That's brilliant. It's not even nobody who has been elected can be considered a failure, it's nobody who might be elected can be a failure.

All politicians are huge successes guys! Regardless of their embarrassing records of ineptitude and poor decision making.

I've been asking myself why we can't get good candidates to run, or if they choose to do so, why can't they get out of the primary?

Like, why can't I vote for John Huntsman?  Why on Earth can't a guy like that get out of the primary?  Had the Republicans nominated him in 2012, Obama wouldn't have likely had a second term.

My main goal between now and November is to convince my parents to either A) Not vote for president, just vote for all the local and state stuff, or B) Vote for Gary

That's all I want

I am going to avoid talking about it with my parents at all costs so I can just imagine they are voting for Gary.

I'll probably vote for Hillary. Just to see how close the race is between the two and I'd love to turn KS blue.

I guess it depends on your definition of success and failure.

Another election year, another year of bitching about how there are no good candidates to vote for.  :Roll Eyes:

No good candidate runs because the process has become about anything but the actual skills and ability the job takes.  It has become a gauntlet of batshit stupidity TMZ style.  To win, you seem to need the exact opposite of what you need to actually do the job.

We need to blow up both parties, the mechanics of funding, and try a different approach.

The republicans had a couple of candidates I liked well enough. We would have ended up with Bush or Rubio if Trump wouldn't have stepped in and ruined everything.

trump certainly didn't take their voters, so i don't see how you can blame them falling into oblivion on trump.

rubio couldn't even win his home state when the only other candidates left were crazy ass trump, crazy ass cruz and ohio-only candidate kasich.  the voters rejected him fair and square.

If Trump had stayed out, turnouts would have been a lot lower.
