When you peel it back, the US's treatment of Russia has been reckless and stupid. If the LibBots of this board had been paying any attention or cared one wit. People who are a lot smarter than you are have been saying that very thing for years and years.
The stupidity reached a crescendo and ultimately pushed Russia into Crimea, and then on into direct support of the Assad regime in Syria. (Sys, don't read that last part because that mentions some things we need to talk to Russia about, but you're a whackadoo who doesn't think the US has anything to talk to Russia about . . . the great faux humanitarian sys prefers the death and destruction of Syria).
The recklessness and stupidity has also pushed Russia into an entirely new envelop of strategic weapons development, and they're very good at making missiles and rockets. If what Vlad says is true (which is admittedly debatable), they're well ahead of us in the Hyper-sonic (carrier killer) race, and from a geo-strategic standpoint they're eyeing vast swaths of the arctic as their own.
