I have long suspected Hillary believes she is better than the common poor man or woman, the salt of.the eath, the backbone of America.   Last night at a gala fundraiser for rich folk hosted by Barbara Streisand she called these common people a "basket of deplorables".   She said the group supports Trump because they are every kind of phober imaginable.  I don't really like trump.  I am voting against Hillary because she will crap on the constitution and transform America because constitutional principles are archaic and no longer apply.  So I guess I am a goober, deplorable, and a phober.  I am a proud gravy eatin America Backbone Goober.

Because it can be seen as unnecessarily divisive to say a large portion of the electorate are "evil" with the implication their opinions are invalid with no need to engage them as anything but ignorant and hateful.

I don't think there's any "seen as."  If she had stuck to it like an ethical person would do, she DID say that a large portion of Trump voters are evil and that their opinions are invalid and there's no need to engage w/them as anything other than ignorant and hateful.  And that's a valid take.  Hit dogs/trump'rs will holler, while usa_FENCE'rs will think "you know, she sucks too but I don't want to be lumped in with those people."
