Sadly, Sproles is at a team where he can maximize his potential.  The offense SD runs, and the talent of Rivers allows Sproles to succeed.  SD wants to keep him, but he has a hefty price tag now.

Also, SD's running game cannot all be blamed on the backs.  Sproles did his part.  LT and the line did not do theirs.

Did you watch any SD games this past football season?  Did you pay attention to the YPC for Sproles vs LT?  Not saying Sproles can get the ball every rough ridin' down, but when he does he usually succeeds.
