I know it's rare in the majors, but what about piggy-backing Medlan and Young? I'm assuming Medlan is still on a fairly strict pitch count, so start him and when he reaches that number bring in Young. Keeps both fairly rested.

pass. I don't want Medlen limited to just games where Young is pitching

What are people's reservations about making medlen the 5th guy in the rotation?  It seems like a no brainer but I have only been watching baseball since september.

It just seems like they want to take it slow, and with our lead, there's no reason to rush. They want to think about Medlen in the rotation beyond 2015. If Guts has another start like this, I bet he'll be gone and Medlen will take over.

:dunno: He wouldn't be. Medlan is the starter in this scenario. If he has a pitch count and reaches it before a normal bullpen situation Young comes in. If he reaches the 6th/7th inning then Young doesn't come in. Basically Young serves as Medlan's personal insurance policy while JGuts is every other starters.

I still don't understand your stance on the cash hate. I mean, we've moved a lot of prospects and we'll need to sign some guys in the off season. Every penny helps. Especially for a fringe mlb player like Blanton. Hopefully the playoffs will bring in some cash too.

i'm interested in them getting prospects (or giving up fewer prospects), not in balancing their rough ridin' budget.  lol at the idea that these 3 million and whatever spare change they got for blanton is going to be spent on free agents.

Zolbrist is only making 3 million this year and we're losing Gordon next year. I know it's not a lot, but we'll need a productive left fielder next year. Zolbrist will probably be worth 8-9 next year, but I feel like the Royals have been doing a better job of investing into this team in the off season. I mean, crap, Rios is making 9 mill this year. I don't know tho, just wishful thinking I guess.

i want them to sign good free agents too, wacky.  i just think they should make their money selling shitty hot dogs and overpriced sweatshirts, instead of selling players.

Good point.  The royals trained me to think small market minded with this team for the last 30 years.

No.  Gordon isn't going anywhere.  He has already publicly said he will excercise his option after next year.  The Royals will be able to afford him after that.

Pretty sure he hasn't confirmed he'll exercise his option. He's talked about possibly doing it but it would be big news if he confirmed it.

It would be great if Alex wanted to exercise his player option. I'm not sure I want the Royals to extend him if he doesn't, though. He's old enough that we can expect him to get a little worse every year.

Alex might stay, and even give us a hometown discount, but he's not taking that player option

Brandon Moss to the Cards... Don't like that if we face them in the classic.
