A potato would be a better president than Trump.

You know what rich and powerful people want? More money and more power. I hope in my lifetime I'll see a leader of this nation who isn't fueled by greed.

We’d have to drastically change election laws for that to happen.

George Washington would be the closest person/president this country has seen in that office to the fitting of that bill, and he was a rather rich Virginia slave holding landowner (though albeit mostly thanks to Martha) but he sacrificed, earned, and laid it all out for the ideals he was fighting for and wasn't driven at all by greed to be president, but rather "hey you are like the most qualified person just take it". He served out of duty, especially his second term, and quit out of a sense of duty to the ideals of the republic after that second term. Very few presidents can stake a claim that close.

Everyone who seriously aspires to be president, even if they are poor or from lowly origins are in general by nature greedy. You have to be ambitious, and greed often fuels that ambition. Also, this can be said about nearly any leader from any country and any period of time where it wasn't some sort of birth right claim to being the head of state. You want some non-greedy head of state? Make it hereditary or draw from a giant lottery pot. That's about it.

tbh trump absolutely did not want to be president either. but it's fair to say he was motivated by greed to run, just not to win

I'm sure she can totally relate to the millions of Americans who don't have a billion dollars and a media empire

Yeah, she is going to be able to relate super well. Having a talk show for the better part of 20 years, constantly meeting and being with people from all walks of life. Being born dirt poor in Mississippi to a single mom, living in inner city Milwaukee, and bouncing around until she landed a job at a news network in Tennessee puts her with a distinct advantage over a ton of people.

Your comment would be as asinine as claiming Steve Jobs doesn't understand how most Americans live cause he was a mega rich founder of Apple while totally forgetting he was an adopted kid who was working with Woz out of a garage and sleeping on dorm room floors until he was like 25.

Raise your profile and turn it into a big TV deal. It makes plenty of financial sense to run and not want to win.

She doesn't have a chance at winning anyway because unlike Barack Obama, Oprah is an actual liberal.

And really I think people that came from nothing and ended up mega rich probably have as difficult a time relating to normal people as someone born rich. People like Oprah and Jobs I’m sure have/had a feeling like everyone else has the capacity or desire to do something similar. Kind of like having a workaholic for a boss.

That said, I think Oprah in particular is very empathetic to the average person. That’s like 90% of why she’s so famous. Just saying  I don’t think you can assume the same for everyone who came from nothing.

A fun excercise would be speculating on her cabinet choices

I mean, Barack is her running mate right?

Dr Phil would naturally be the surgeon general.

Dr. Oz, you Oprah noob.
