Music downloading
« on: January 29, 2010, 07:06:23 PM »
Bros,

Where can I "not legally" download free music?  I'm not actually GOING to download it, just wanna know in case I ever need to know.  I love the law and stuff.

I'm talking about somewhere that I don't have to install a program, not a fan of that.

Limewire works fine. Make sure you don't set it to share with others though. If you share, the music industry/feds will find you............ :ohno:

all of you are tards.

i have other resources but i'm only going to share one very useful one with you.

blogsearch.google.com

in the search column enter the following

download "album name" "artist name" site:blogspot.com OR site:baywords.com

don't use the blogs that are titled "freemp3.blogspot" or other obvious advertisement or pay sites

there are blogs on the interwebz that have rapidshare, mediafire etc links  that have full albums.  just be smart about which ones you choose. generally stick to music review blogs or something that looks legit.

they'll generally be in .rar or compressed files. there are a ton of free and good software out there that will open these compressed files.

if you wanna talk higher quality (like 320 bitrate or higher) then you would be needing a more secure system, with collective audiophiles working towards creating a library like what oink was, or what waffles or what.cd are now. you could also just add it into the search and see if anything comes up.

Read this first:

A Beginner's Guide To Torrents

Download this:

For Windows - uTorrent 2.0

For Mac - Transmission

uTorrent has a mac beta version.  haven't really tried it.  Also, Vuze, formerly Azureus, is a resource hog.  and it seems to push user-created content way too much.  So pretty much stay away from it.

Then search for torrents:

The Pirate Bay (though not a tracker anymore, just indexes other trackers)

BTJunkie (another indexer)

isoHunt (indexer)

Demonoid (semi-public tracker.  invites happen every so often.  but you still have access to recent torrents.)

KickAssTorrents (a new indexer.  pretty simple user interface.)

The RIAA has pretty much let it be known that they are no longer going after (suing/settling) downloaders anymore.  They are now working with service providers in identifying infringers and sotpping them by issuing warnings and going as far as canceling service.
