Finished my Wichita half-m today. Around 1:50. Very slow and some walking at the end. The heat and wind the second hour was BRUTAL.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

First trail run of the season. Felt good to be in the woods. Planning to get at least half my miles on the trail this summer. Working toward a trail half marathon in November.

5 miler at lunch today. I was about half a mile from home and the lightning started. Scared the crap out of me so I ran as fast as I possibly could, which wasn't much faster after 4.5 already.
I thought about what's-his-name's wife (Bennett?). I was only a half mile from home but had no place to go...except get there ASAP.
Be careful out there distance runners!

Trail season is the best season.  Did my first peak run on Saturday.  So much more enjoyable than road, but that vert  :sdeek:   There's a beast of a trail run end of July that I'm thinking about, but I've got a lot of uphill training to do to get ready.

Well the first 5K is in the books guys.  Didn't get to meet Bill but it was a lot of fun.  I bought new shoes just for this race and I'm glad I did.  Will definitely do another one.

They gave cotton shirts for race swag?  That ridiculous.

Not surprised Emo thinks a 65% Polyester 35% Cotton shirt is all cotton.  Probably ran in a camo spandex suit today too.

Damn. If I had remembered I could have tried to identify Emo at the finish line, I would have stayed in MHK.

Not surprised TBT doesn't think a shirt with cotton in it doesn't have cotton in it.

FWIW the elite races, and even this one last year, give 100% poly shirts.

Maybe they should up the entrance fee?  Since this race is all about the rough ridin' swag and not about giving the money to charity.

I'd rather them give all the money to charity instead of giving a shirt I will use to paint if I'm ever poor enough to stop paying someone to do it for me.

Face to face with a big bull moose at about 10 yds on my run this morning.  I've seen plenty out here but was surprised by this one.  Lower elevation than usual and it was near the intersection of two heavily used trails.  Luckily he headed off trail into the trees while I was trying to figure out where the best place to get out of his way would be.

Emo: Is this heaven?
tdaver: It's — it's Utah.
Emo: Utah?
tdaver: Yeah
Emo: I could have sworn it was heaven.
tdaver: Is there a heaven?
Emo: Oh, yeah. It's the place where the sage and the aspens come together.
tdaver: Maybe this is heaven.
