Just started. Sucked at first. Now is kind of fun. Running in super cold weather is terrible.

What gear do you guys have? :excited:

P.S. I am very slow. Very slow.

I have nothing against distance running and believe it is a great thing. Maybe that's because I'm a distance runner. But I have never appeared in the Olympics and never will. Just a distance runner.

I enjoy running when the weather is really nice. I was up to three miles at the end of summer but haven't run in a couple weeks.

I've run the Peachtree in Atlanta three times. It's a 10k and they always have cool shirts. If you don't get a cool shirt then running is a stupid way to spend time, imo.

Same to an extent.  I really only do it as a warm up.  Mile or two and on to other, more interesting stuff.  Also, I will say that if  you get a treadmill that has a tv, and that tv can get old epi's of Castle, and those old epi's of Castle have closed captioning, for some reason, this makes time go by really fast.  I have never even seen an epi of Castle with the sound on, nor have I seen a full epi in closed captioning.  But, running goes faster with it.   :dunno:

Yeah Podcasts are great. Also the Nike Running app is great. Shuffles tunes and really keeps you on your toes, man. Also tracks tons of stuff, like for instance that your bud SkinnyBenny ran 50 miles last month. :excited:

Also compression socks/leg sleeves are a must for anyone who gets shin splints. Lifesavers.

I had that once and just let it go, ended up tearing my patellar tendon and having surgery.  :sdeek:

I ran a 5:04 mile (1600M) in middle school, my last year running track.   Started playing tennis in the spring through high school... never really competitively ran a mile after that.

I run for fun, now and I think trying really hard I could maybe run a mile in 7 minutes  :frown:

also recently picked up running recently, SB. always thought i totally hated it, but after teaching myself to just run nice and easy, it's pretty okay.

i use the nike running app too, and put my iphone in an arm band which i place on my right bicep. looks great, feels great. will hit 100 miles on my next run.

ran a 5k (not an actual race, just on my own) in 27:11 a couple weeks ago. longest run so far is 6 miles, at a 9:23 per mile pace.

i will be running the Rock the Parkway half marathon in April. hoping to go under 2 hours. will take some work.

Oh man sounds like emawblast and SB are going to own this thread!  :excited:

I put my armband on my left arm. But you know, different arms for different farms. Whatever works. Longest run for me so far has been 7 miles (v. slowly) but I add about a mile or so each week. The best part about starting to run is that there's a crazy fast initial improvement. So like I ran a 5K race about a month and a half ago and barely made it and was dying, then less than a week later it was super easy. I think the thing to make running not miserable is learning how to do measured, slow and easy breathing.

BUT I'M NO CARL LEWIS YOU GUYS, WHAT DO I KNOW?

hey SB how has your having-to-poop midway through the run been? man there's been some really close calls for me. most annoying thing about running, imo.
