Minneapolis $179MM for police for 2018. Atlanta $218MM for police in 2017. KCMO $254MM for police for 18-19. Whaaaa?

How much more should they get clams?

those are both smaller cities than KCMO, both in population and (maybe more importantly?) sq mileage

kcmo 481k / 315 sq miles
atlanta 472k / 133 sq miles
minneapolis 413k / 54 sq miles

how

i have absolutely zero #agenda here, i was just commenting on phil's comparison cities. i would think population and amount of physical area that a PD has to patrol are factors in its budget, but who knows? i just like geography stats, man.

also, p jealous of minneapolis' density.

MORE GEONERD STATS INCOMING

there are 307 us cities with population >100k. obviously in general the cities on the coasts have greater density, so i thought it might be interesting to compare non-coastal cities.
there are approximately 162 non-coastal >100k cities.

density ranking of non-coastal us cities (overall rank in parentheses):

1. (12) Chicago 11,900/sq mi
2. (32) Minneapolis 7660/sq mi
3. (49) Buffalo 6359/sq mi
4. (52) Milwaukee 6186/sq mi
5. (57) St. Paul 5815/sq mi
.
.
.
134. (272) Kansas City 1528/sq mi

Our density is trash due to the overzealous expansion of KCMO up north....even in the urban core our density is pretty sad.

yeah people are always slobbing on minneapolis transit's knob, and they consistently rank #1 or #2 in fittest US cities (despite negative one million degree temperatures year round). now it makes more sense to me.

This. If only we hadn't torn down half the houses in the city because they were empty for like 7 months.

I lived there for a while, loved every minute of it.  However, it’s not really a fair comparison because they can only expand in one direction because of the lake...and because of the lake, the downtown area is anchored to high value real estate with lots of cool stuff that gets a big return on investment and is guaranteed to stay desirable as long as the lake is there.  So, “near down town” stuff in Milwaukee is closer to cool stuff than “near downtown stuff” in KC.

You must also factor in that Wisconsin is awesome, and KS/MO less awesome.

Tannin has a great one but it's not much of a tournament atmosphere.  Howard's is good and just south of sprint center and fans won't know about it. Brewery emperial burger is pretty good. Anton's I thought had a great one but I haven't had it in a long time.

Brgr burger sucks...don't go there.

The original BRGR off 83rd is the tits. The downtown one is not as good. So that would make sense with your take.
