Are the rows in front & behind the last to fill after strapping down those car seats?

I think I've posted this before but a good southwest family travel protrip is to just have one person (me) get earlybird check in. So like right now I'm A35. Then just check in the wife and 12 kids whenever because they'll board with family boarding and meanwhile I've blocked off like 3 entire sections of the front and got the 4 car seats installed and they can just get on and sit down without us blocking off the entryway trying to get car seats in. doesn't flying with kids sound luxurious? wow.

these are the people that i murder with my uzi

I'm thinking the best way to do this thing super cheap, is to fly into ft Lauderdale, rent a car, and then stay at our families spot in Marco. LA and San Diego are very enticing, but we've done that trip 3 times in the last year and a half.

Is it possible to buy a cheap SW flight now, and then get a free companion seat for that flight later when my companion pass comes through in another month or so?

What's fun to do in DC? I'll be there next Thursday through Sunday, but 2 and half of those days i'll be trout fishing in a cabin in West Virginia that our friends own. Should I just hop on one of those tour buses and see everything real quick?
