I would like some actual lawyers (or someone adjacent to a lawyer) to tell me the legal definition of some words.

"from time to time"

I am just starting episode 6.

Ulrich didn't really rape Katerina, did he? She appeared to have a black eye at the end of that episode.

Essentially Flyertalk / Holiday Vacation
« on: December 22, 2017, 10:17:01 AM »
Do you guys get an extended holiday/vacation from work over Christmas? Besides Christmas stuff, what are you looking forward to getting accomplished?

I will be off work for a week and a half. I'm looking forward to adding pocket extensions to some of my pants.

The New Joe Montgomery Birther Pit / Patriarchy
« on: December 20, 2017, 08:49:26 AM »
Old Navy had sleep pants on sale this weekend. The guys' pants had pockets but the women's didn't. WTF?

This is a huge problem in the women's clothing industry. Small or non-existent pockets. This is why women are forced to carry purses; which hinders their movements and leaves them more vulnerable to attacks by men.

The New Joe Montgomery Birther Pit / Fun New Facebook Game
« on: December 01, 2017, 02:24:31 PM »
I've started a fun new game using Facebook and I'd like to see if any of you want to join me.

Whenever I see someone post something that looks a little suspicious, I go online and do some fact checking. If I can find some actual facts that refute the post, I will make a comment letting them know that what they have posted is fake, along with a link.

Then, if they delete it I get 1 point. So far I have gotten 4 points.

Anyone want to play?

The New Joe Montgomery Birther Pit / A Fine Line
« on: November 16, 2017, 11:21:20 AM »
I'd like to do a thought experiment. I'm going to list 10 scenarios. Please tell us which of these scenarios you think are ok and which are definitely not ok and which are maybe just a little bit inappropriate. I am interested to see where some people draw a line and how it differs between people. TIA

1. Two 14 year-olds kiss (with tongue).
2. After a year of dating, a 14.9 year-old and a 18.1 year-old have sexual intercourse.
3. After their a first date (to the prom), an 18 year old year old (Senior) and a 14 year old (Freshman) have sexual intercourse. The Freshman wasn't planning on having sex but didn't protest because the Senior is popular.
4. Two fast food co-workers fool around after work. This includes removal of pants but no intercourse. One is 16. The other is the 20 year-old shift manager.
5. A hot celebrity shows their genitals to a fan back stage in the dressing room. They did not ask permission but the fan smiled.
6. A 28 year-old asks a 14 year-old out on a date.
7. 3 friends are playing strip poker. After most of the clothes are off, one of them forcefully pulls another into a bedroom and locks it. The third has to almost break the door down to get them to stop.
8. A drunk person forcefully puts his/her hand down the pants of another person without warning.
9. Two drunk people have sex. Neither of them expressed consent.
10. As a joke, a person grabs the butt of another person. They are acquaintances but not good friends.

Essentially Flyertalk / Christmas Gift Ideas
« on: November 17, 2016, 02:59:16 PM »
I'm thinking of getting some of these mugs for my family members.

Color Changing Mugs

When they get it they will think that I just gave them a black coffee cup, but then later when they put a hot beverage in it the message will show up. Here are some ideas I have for the messages:

Grab em by the Pussy!
eff Trump!
I hate Bad Hombres!
"If Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”

I need some more ideas for other messages.

I think we all know the answer.

The New Joe Montgomery Birther Pit / Advance Voting
« on: September 14, 2016, 02:41:01 PM »
I would like to use Advance Voting, but I might need to wait to make sure Kansas is a lock before casting my vote (i.e. if I vote for GJ).

Can I go ahead and apply for an advance ballot and then decide later whether to use it or just go vote in person?

Can I just turn in my advance ballot at my polling place?

Essentially Flyertalk / Annoying Things at Your Office
« on: May 17, 2016, 11:25:30 AM »
Not really hilarious, more like so sad that I am laughing.

We tried to use GoTo Meeting on Friday but the app is no longer supported because our operating system is too old. But there is a work around - you can use the web based version on Google Chrome....but we don't have Google Chrome on the conference room computer.

It would take about 10 seconds to put google chrome on the conference room computer.

I would not be surprised if an IT department still clinging to Windows XP does not grant its users admin rights to the conference room computer.

So now I have to call GoTo Meeting and ask them if they have a work around that doesn't involve us updating our operating system or installing Chrome.  And then threaten to use another service if they don't have any work around.

Essentially Flyertalk / How to....
« on: April 25, 2016, 10:41:30 AM »
I have a full backpack that I need to mail. What is the best/cheapest way to do this? Do I need to put it in a box or can I mail it just as is? It is like an army backpack, like this...

Essentially Flyertalk / After the __________
« on: April 25, 2016, 09:29:38 AM »
OK, so all these shows now have "After" shows. Orphan Black has "After the Black". GoT has "After the Thrones". Is this really necessary to talk the shows to death right afterwards? And couldn't they come up with a more creative title for the after shows?

At least The Walking Dead calls theirs "The Talking Dead" - which BTW is now the after show for both TWD and FTWD.

Essentially Flyertalk / Motorcycles and the Cool People Who Ride Them
« on: April 20, 2016, 09:50:06 AM »
If you are considering buying a motorcycle and don't have any experience riding them you should consider taking a class. After the class, you don't have to take the motorcycle license test, you just take the paper from the class to the Driver's License office and they give you (for a fee) a license with 'M' class on it.

Essentially Flyertalk / Dear Abby
« on: April 05, 2016, 03:31:55 PM »
Quote
DEAR ABBY: My husband is in poor health, and when his time comes, I would like to have him stuffed.

It would be comforting to see him sitting in his favorite chair in the living room. That way I’d always know where he is, plus he wouldn’t be asking me for another beer all the time.

My kids don’t like the idea. What about you, Abby? — DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CALIF.
:sdeek:

Quote
DEAR D.H.S.: Grief makes people do strange things. I’m not sure you are thinking this through. Once you are finished grieving, you may meet someone you want to watch a game with and need that chair.

Essentially Flyertalk / It's Spring!
« on: March 22, 2016, 03:38:02 PM »
Hey guys, it's spring which is the best time of year because it doesn't get dark at 5pm and the weather is getting nice so you can start doing things outside again.

I'm looking forward to riding my bike (bicycle), going camping, going to some Royals games, and riding my bike (motorcycle). What about you?

If you are a 69 year old British celebrity, now is not a good time for you.

First David Bowie, now Alan Rickman.
