He was asked about the soldiers in general, I have not seen a transcript that indicates he was asked about calling the families.

So the traditional way -- if you look at President Obama and other presidents, most of them didn't make calls. A lot of them didn't make calls. I like to call when it's appropriate, when I think I am able to do it.

That sounds like Trump politicizing it to me.

man that congresswoman sure scored a ton of political points by repeating a direct quote from the president to a deceased soldier's family.

So trump was lying when he denied saying "he knew what he was signing up for" and when he said he had "proof" that this congresswoman was lying?

First, you are assuming that Trump was referring to those specific words "he knew was he was signing up for" when he said that wasn't true, as opposed to "but I guess it hurts anyway" or the characterization of the entire conversation. The latter would be the reasonable thing to conclude, unless you are a butthurt liberal looking for a lie.

Second, you are assuming that the only "proof" would be an audio recording, as opposed to numerous people being in the room with Trump when he made the call, which is true.

You're bending over backwards to find a lie, any lie, to excuse this disgusting political stunt. You should really let this go.
Which is a bigger leap of faith, that Trump was completely ineffective at comforting a grieving mother/wife and offended them or that the family manufactured the entire incident? It is completely obvious what happened, you acknowledge as much but Trump is completely incapable of navigating any pushback on anything without becoming enraged and lashing out at people and lying his ass off the entire way.

Worth noting, Kelly also lied about the congresswoman's dedication of the FBI a building.

Well he also said he's the only president in history to call the families and then dragged general Kelly's kid into the mud by claiming Obama hates America because he did not call Gen Kelly (he called the son's wife, which is standard)

Do you think Trump just randomly started talking about this? He was responding to a "why haven't you called?" question. Yes, he was overly defensive about it. One of his weaknesses is he is too rash to pick every single fight when he should just occasionally take the high road and not feel the need to defend himself constantly. Then again, that's easy for me to say - I might feel differently if I was constantly subject to unfair attacks.
The question was not at all about him calling. It was a question for him to finally pubically comment on 4 dead men that had happened the week prior.

JFC just stop.

If the topic matter weren't so serious him getting busted in yet another lie and the subsequent defense by the trumpers is just such pure entertainment.

cnn is just trying to politicize this political campaign speech!  :curse:

Just FYI - this has been debunked. Do a google search.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

Just use your eyes on that one. The audio makes it even more evident but not needed.

Her outfits really are amazing. They make me wish John Currie would have taken a job in her district.
