My point wasn't exclusive to Ertz, though I agree it never made sense why Banks did not see the field over at least Cook. I always assumed he did not want to burn his redshirt nearly halfway through the season when it became apparent Hubes was not going to develop into a true starter.

In our system the coaches would prefer the qb to make the checks on their own which we did see ertz doing some.  In some conditions the play call is check with me and the count always is on two, down set go, look down set go.

Tulane redshirt junior QB Jonathan Banks (undisclosed) will not start against Oklahoma on Saturday.

Banks left the contest against Navy with an undisclosed injury, and was replaced by Jonathan Brantley, who gets the start against the Sooners. Banks hasn't been ruled out for the game yet, so there's at least a chance he'll see time for Tulane against Oklahoma, he just won't get the start.
