A small shakeup on LHC Bill Snyder’s coaching staff may be in the works. According to multiple sources, Kansas State quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator Del Miller has accepted a retirement incentive package from Kansas State and will be replaced on the coaching staff by former K-State quarterback Collin Klein. Klein served as quarterbacks coach at Northern Iowa this past season after previously serving as a graduate assistant at K-State. Klein played at K-State from 2009-2012, leading the Wildcats to the Big 12 championship in 2012.
An official announcement is expected from K-State next week.

Anything is an upgrade over Del

That's exciting! Too much happening this offseason. Don't like

retirement incentive package

Who'd take over D-line?

Awesome to have Klein back.
And as much as people go after Miller, I think he did tons more than Mo the last several years.

collin has to be a better recruiter than del, right?

I bet that rascal Del was quite the closer.

He's so lovable guys! #TeamCK7

CK is my guy on the coaching staff.
-
Hope our QB's are ready for getting skettibrained :D
-
retirement incentive package
Closest bill has ever come to firing anyone for sure
-
He's a great man.
-
It would appear Bill thinks this team can make a run and he doesn't want to choke up anymore big leads.

To me, this seems like the biggest signal that Bill has now gained an appreciation for his own mortality. I mean, "nudging" Del and Mo out? This is basically Bill inviting the family over to his home to put name tags on the stuff they want to inherit.
-
Is this not the most exciting off season we have had since The Return on Snyder-man? :excited:

No joke. Let's hope Mo accepts the retirement incentive package too. We would be replacing two coaches on the staff who are non-existent on the recruiting trail.
-
Fwiw CK was always going to come back as the extra AC the NCAA is adding this offseason
-
CK is my guy on the coaching staff.
I hadn't read this until now, but I would have bet money you would have made this claim. You have been waiting on this ever since he graduated. I am sure you won't be missing a game the fall.
-
Hopefully CK is on the sidelines and provides a good communication channel between the players and Dimel.
Also, maybe CK will have the balls to have in-game input during the 1 or 2 games a year Dimel chokes.
-
:flush:
-
should make it easier to manage his wing stop, or whatever. also, great hire. welcome home ck7.
-
It's a tanners you bad person

No staff in the conference will have the processed chicken experience that KSU does.
-
Not only would I like to welcome CK7 back to our sidelines, but also Mr. Mike and Mr. Ike.

Nope. He's my dude like Gordon is my dude.

Good thing we renewed our tickets.

This link claims that CK7 is not only the QB coach, but also tabbed as Co-OC.

I was actually born in San Antonio (Lackland AF Base). I went to HS in Colo Springs (Air Academy freshman year and Palmer (downtown) the next 3.

Let the record reflect that Mike is a lying liar face whose name should actually be Mike from Loveland. Mods, kstofer can be changed to kstofer who actually lives in Fort Collins.

I wonder if the other assistants have similar contracts.

Seems like a great gig for him. I don't see any downsides.

The article says he's the lowest-paid assistant.
-
And he should be.
But I'm curious if all the guys have all the incentives and multi year contracts.
-
Are non-competes typical?
-
Are non-competes typical?
Yes, but kinda bizarre for him, like he'd want to jump to any other Big 12 school.
-
For a better gig, you jump, depending on the situation of course. He can always come back home to an even better gig.
-
His job isn't contingent on LHCBS being there, and he is locked in even if Bill leaves. I've never heard of that kind of clause.
-
Would you say it is the 'fudge dragon sundae' of contracts?
-
I think they think he could be the real deal, like HC material real deal eventually, and they wanna hold him back by the taint/ball sac.
-
Blocking lateral moves within the conference should be normal if it's not already.
-
IDK why but Im really not that excited about this.. I hope he can recruit really well though!
-

Maybe it is something he asked for. He's taking a job for an 80 year old man with cancer, after all. Surely he wants some sense that he won't be out of a job if Bill has to retire next week.

True, I guess it makes sense for the university to allow that to happen since he's so EMAW. Just surprising.
Is this the thread where we talk again about how many recruits didn't come here the last several years because of the uncertainty of Bill retiring/dying and no formal plan in place to ease any concerns? :buh-bye:
-
IDK why but Im really not that excited about this.. I hope he can recruit really well though!
Because he hasn't done crap as a coach

yeah, I mean that's part of it.. I guess I'm also tired of us constantly having to hire someone with kstate ties.
-
Think Sproles would come back?
-
I would think Sproles would have a hard time coaching with his speech impediment. I swear i'm not trying to knock him, but having a fear of public speaking myself, I would find it difficult to do with not wanting to be seen like him.
-
I thought he had worked on it since college? I'll be his speaker for what I currently make. :D
-
Yeah, I just don't know how much he's improved. Hopefully i'm wrong and he's awesome/fearless and wants to coach.
-

I'd enjoy that a lot. Maybe I'm an idiot, but I think having recently past stars on staff can only help KSU in recruiting at least. Also having been through Snyders system. I'll hope for more CK7s.
-
I agree. Love him or hate him, but would kids wanna go play for Tebow? Hell yes. Having a recognizable name on the staff I would help. Even tho he's not Tebow status, but he was a college star.
-
If our QB's start throwing like their shot putting a football, then i'll be concerned.
-
Hahahaha depends on how well they run.
-

True, but I can't imagine being happy or upset with whoever the QB coach is. I really only care about offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, and head coach.

You can get good recruiters at these positions. I'm not necessarily worried about the hire, but I'm sure there are potential hires that could be generate more excitement.

https://n.rivals.com/news/grading-this-week-s-assistant-coaching-hires
Local take: “Bringing back one of K-State's all-time greats to coach his former position is a win-win for the Wildcats. For the immediate roster, Klein's success within the system is unparalleled and is considered one of LHC Bill Snyder's smartest pupils. Having been with the team in a different role two seasons ago, he's also already familiar with both incumbent starter Jesse Ertz and future star Skylar Thompson, meaning there won't be typical time spent building relationships or acclimating to style. On the recruiting trail is where the Wildcats may receive the biggest boost though. The youngest staff member at just 27 years old, Klein possesses the rare opportunity to enter locations where prospects may be unaware of the K-State program and instantly bring interest to the table based on his name alone. A seamless acquisition from every angle, this was a natural promotion that's been in the cards since the moment Klein expressed interest in coaching.” – Ryan Wallace, GoPowercat.com
Farrell’s take: "Klein returns to Manhattan, where he was a star quarterback and Heisman darkhorse. He not only knows Kansas State well but he’s young and can relate well to recruits having just graduated in 2012. I have a feeling he’s going to be a big addition to this staff."
Farrell’s grade: B

He would do just fine speaking with players, and that's all I care about.
-
I for one will cut Klein zero slack in criticizing him for his piss poor recruiting efforts.
-
Klein as QB coach. TNew as DB coach. Jordy at WR coach. Sproles as RB coach.
:ksu:
-
I need a hero to pm me there username and pw to gpc.. my other acct I use to leach on the person changed there pw and I don't talk to them anymore :( I wont post from your acct
-
nostalgia is of course playing a part in why i'm so pumped to have klein on staff. on the other hand, it makes a lot of sense. nobody has ever drank the Snyder Kool-Aid harder than klein. he's a "company man" who is, what, 26 or 27? I have to think he's going to be more energetic on the recruiting trail than Del.
-
Well if this is The Year, then what a storybook way to do so. Snyder comes back from fighting cancer to get the Natty he deserves, Klein comes back to make up for the Natty he potentially lost (Thanks Baylor, ya rapist cheats), and we the fans get to pak our faces off while they do it!

What's Ty Zimmerman up to? I always thought he would make a good coach.

He has his Education degree and is teaching on post at Fort Riley Middle School. Not sure what, if any coaching he is doing.
