Don't mind the trade out at all. Seems like there where a bunch of players left that would be solid picks at that point. Drop down a few spots and grab 2 more later picks, then still get a decent player.

The chiefs are the unconfident loser team that doesn't pick day one and hopes no one sees how stupid they are.  Sorry guys, its true.

Did the chiefs trade out of the first round a few years back as well,  or am I mis-remembering?

Not sure, you could be mistaking them for your team in 2012.

This draft sucks. They'll get an equally good player at 37 as they could have at 28.

consider me not a fan of the move. the broncos are out there being aggressive to get a potential starting quarterback while we make a trade so that we can get another couple mediocre picks later on. maybe Lynch will end up sucking, but at least the broncos are out there trying.

The broncos have to be aggressive, because they literally have zero QB's. Why reach on this draft, when we have a top 15 qb for 2 more years? :dunno:

I'm fine with trading down but the value they got wasn't good enough.  Broncos gave up a 3 to move up 5 spots and we we move back 9 spots for a 4?

Going into the draft, I would've expected the Chiefs to get a starter and a contributor/future starter with their picks.  I'm not sure that has changed with the trade, but the starter will be worse.  The Broncos are breaking in a new QB, the Pats will be without Brady for 4 games, and we are looking long term instead of trying to improve our 2016 team.  We should be going for a first round bye.

In the long term, the Broncos move will all depend on if Paxton develops.  In the short term, I think their defensive talent gets too expensive for them before Paxton can help them win anything of value.

I think they are trying for a couple of contributors instead of an impact starter.  I guess if they are looking on the O-Line, sometimes you can find starters in the 2nd/4th.  Once the run on WRs, Lynch, and the Houston CBs were gone, I wasn't really excited about our options.  I think Jack could be a DJamer replacement but don't know how much that will improve us immediately.

Yeah, I can't believe how far Jack fell. I know he can't play next year, but wow, that was crazy. Also, we could still grab Cook in the 2nd round. I doubt we do, but it's not out of question.

Jack was out this last year and was generally expected to play this year.  Then he said a bunch of stupid crap and nobody knows for sure if he would play or not now.  The ND linebacker Smith is the one that will be out for a year.  Jack's fall could be related if neither will end up playing, teams won't want to take a guy in the first round when they can get a similar talent in the third/fourth.

Given there may not be a stud WR left, Chiefs could probably snag the Arkansas TE @ 37 and try some double TE sets.  Could play well to Smith's skill set.

There's always 2nd/3rd/4th rounders who make an impact.  And we found a starter OL in Mitch Morse in the 2nd last year.

Maybe the Broncos are just blinded by shimmer and glow of all those Lombardi Trophies and Super Bowl rings.

Hope JM is worth it.
