A little look at who we have left....

** The next 12 are vs above .500 teams. 6 on the road vs Mia/Bos. Then 6 at home vs NYY/Det

** We have 17 games vs Minn ChiSox and Oak.  10 of those at the K.  All 3 teams are below .500 and we have a 20-5 record vs Division foes Minn/Chi

** The other 9 games are 3 at Clev, 3 at Det, and 3 with Clev at home


Now I have no idea how many wins it will take to get the WC2.  We do play Boston but don't play Balt or Sea or Houston, so we don't control a lot what other teams do.
I don't think Det or NYY are gonna get 87-89 wins, so not worried about them.

The next 12 games will likely be a telling sign.  The hot streak will eventually come to an end, and hopefully we will transistion into a mediocre stretch and not a cold stretch.  I would take 7-5 the next 12, and then we get 14 of next 17 vs Chi/Minn/Oak

IMO the goal should be to get to 90 wins. 38 games left, need to win 26 of them. Tall order but winning cures all ills. If your scenario played out, they'll be 85-68 with 9 games left, which would be plenty on track since they would need to "only" go 5-4 to achieve that. It's possible, but they cannot have many missteps.

I've been giving all of this a lot of thought today. the royals have some games left, but not a lot. the other teams have games as well. some of our games are against the other teams games but some of them aren't. so we have some control but not total control. the main thing that I've come up with is that these remaining games are important. if we win a lot of them, we might be ok. but if we don't win a lot of them, we probably won't.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but the three AL East teams in the playoff race each still have two series left against the other two teams - BOS vs TOR (6), BOS vs BAL (7), TOR vs BAL (6). If one of them can go like 3-9 or 3-10 in those games it would help a lot. Worst case scenario is everyone splits those games.
