Name the last successful k-state quarterback to rely pretty much entirely on their arm.

Let me see a quasi mobile quarterback depending on his arm and throwing to a talented Locket while leading the cats to a 10 win season.

Kansas State junior QB Jake Waters "has a chance to showcase his diverse skills" on Thursday night against Auburn, wrote Sports Illustrated's Pete Thamel and Thayer Evans.

"Waters is the classic LHC Bill Snyder recruit -- and undervalued junior college star that few other high-profile schools wanted," wrote SI's Inside Read duo. "As so often happens under Snyder, he’s emerged as a star." KSU would take a big step towards the inaugural college football playoff if it can pull off an upset against the Tigers. "We have everything," Waters said. "We can go do the spread game, the zone reads, throw the attachments, or we can go put two tight ends, two running backs in there and pound it on the ground. It’s a complicated offense." CBS Sports' Dane Brugler compared Waters to ex-Gamecocks QB Connor Shaw over the summer: "Similar to Connor Shaw a year ago, Waters' skill-set doesn't scream NFL quarterback, but with a productive and winning senior season, he will earn a shot to make a pro roster."
