Hubert will prob get PT as a true frosh. O-line depth is as good as its been in prob 15 years. Concerned about quality depth at CB. RB/WR depth is ......LOADED.

Imo this offense has potential to be best we've had since 03' .

LB is our weakest position, I'm hoping Patton makes it into our starting group.

I'd prob argue it's the most unproven spot. But i actually think there's some pretty good potential there. It'd be more concerning to me if i was concerned about the overall talent level. We shall see

If you'll be here on 9/2, I will work on getting the game from kstateo.tv and onto a screen somewhere we can PAK, ideally outside or close to outside water-ish things.  Gooch will be here, and I'm sure MIXED-NUTZ would be in if he's here.

Tidbit: Expect a more aggressive approach with our DB's. They have been playing more man coverage instead of the dreaded "bend don't break Cover 3 and Cover 4". This will create more turnovers and pressure.

If Green and Walker didn't qualify/stay, then that leaves us with zero freshman linebackers.

It's not a huge problem; we'll fill in the gaps in their class in a couple of years with JUCO guys if need be, but that's disappointing.

I'm pretty sure Rudzik is a RS-FR.  But since Snyder seems to always redshirt a double-digit number of guys, I consider us to have five classes and not four.

So, our RS-FR LB class will be empty next year.  Snyder usually replaces guys that wash out in years 1-3 with JUCO players, so I'm guessing there's already a contingency to find a LB two years from now to fill the spot.

I mean it's not a really big deal.  Some SR walk-on will get a scholarship for his last year now.

The 2018 class is really, really small due to the small number of seniors, so a little attrition isn't a negative considering our recruiting hasn't sucked the last couple of years.

Consistently under recruiting and failing to fill a position of need has worked out well for us in the past. So yeah no big deal if you want a LB group manned by a bunch of Will Davis type players.

And who is stepping in to fill their shoes? Our LB group has zero experience and sketchy depth. This is like having Hubenor be our starting qb or stonehands Burton our #1 WR. It doesn't work out well for us. They missed those positions and it killed us.

Yes inexperienced and unknown, because they were playing behind future pros. I'd be far more concerned if our recently departed LB's were run of the mill.very average players that none of our other lb's on the roster could beat out, but thats not the case, is it?

So yes, there is an unknown from an experience on gameday standpoint. But nothing has been proven otherwise either way, saying the coaching staff has failed to adequately manage that roster depth at this point is pretty dumb because you literally dont know how good or not good the current lbs will be. Just as dumb as another fan harping about the Huebener year, i mean, How DARE the coaches not adequately recruit complete STUDS  who could start for any big 12 school to be our 4th string QB! Such failure!

Not losing it, simply stating what should be very obvious. Unless Patton is an absolute beast and can shore up some monster holes, then our linebacking group is going to be extremely subpar. This falls back on the coaches for sucking at recruiting for this position. Look back through the 2014 class and onwards, and tell me who we signed that stands out at LB besides Lee who left early.

Well both sizelove/sullivan were graded pretty darn high at their position class ( top 30's) , but again this is really boiling down to a subjective argument, you really have no evidence as of right now to support your statememts that our LB unit will be sub-par. Ill give it a few games before im gonna start judging the unit. Ya know, using tangible facts. Not crappy knee jerk whiny opinions

Id like to assume we'll be fine and Dickey will keep the O-Line afloat.

The timing of it seems a little worrisome, but I'm sure they've know about it for a little while.

What's honestly crazy about that is he only played the spot for exactly one year and already drew such high accolades. Pretty big testament to Dickey's work in insisting all of the O-line basically be able to play all spots along the line.

Oddly enough they were in this same situation almost the same time of year last year because two Juco signings weren't up to speed yet. So they moved Risner and inserted Navjar. It had its growing pains early but holy cow they molded that unit into a machine pretty darn quickly.

Its a blow, but sure does seem like they generally manage to find guys to step up rather quickly and well

I lived across from Matt Butler a couple years after he graduated. His wife was very pretty, and reasonably outgoing gal. She used to come over if I was out on the front porch burning a heater, shoot the crap for awhile and go home. Always during the day though, never when her husband was home. One night my roommate and I were having a few beers on the front porch and she decided to come over and drink with us a bit. She said that Matt was out of town, so she was bored and wanted to hang out. Matt was not out of town, he came home about thirty minutes later, and I've never seen a woman so terrified in my life. She scurried back across the street and she never said a word to us again and we lived there for almost an entire year after that. I get the feeling that Matt might be the jealous type. There's your fall tidbit, you rough ridin' animals.

new jmart forum has a q/a where someone insidery mentions delton/thompson split reps in practice, and that if ertz goes down for any extended period, thompson would eventually be the starter bc he has fewer limitations for the offense.

If Green and Walker didn't qualify/stay, then that leaves us with zero freshman linebackers.

It's not a huge problem; we'll fill in the gaps in their class in a couple of years with JUCO guys if need be, but that's disappointing.

the ish i heard on walker from my guy was "he was asked to leave." not sure if true.

Called it, starting linebackers looked slow as crap. Hughes has a good noise for the ball, Sullivan doesn't have a lot of size. I didn't see Patton at all, Walker at safety is extremely agressive.

Strickland did get in at the end of the game when Thompson was QB.  Other WR's to play before him were Pringle, Harris, Zuber, Shoen, Rueter.  Heath didn't play.  Saw him on sidelines in pads, but walking around without helmet.  Not sure if injured or suspended.

Really like Harris.  Very quick out of his cuts and catches the ball with his hands. Receivers are coached very well by Coleman.

Really like Harris.  Very quick out of his cuts and catches the ball with his hands. Receivers are coached very well by Coleman.

If Heath was in pads, he isn't suspended

The Wichita Eagle's Kellis Robinett reports that Kansas State WR Dominique Heath (undisclosed) is probable for Saturday's game against Charlotte.

Heath missed last week's opener while dealing with an undisclosed injury. He was listed as a starter in depth charts published late in the summer. Once Heath returns, he'll act as a secondary option behind Bryon Pringle.
