Is there even an issue here of this lady getting "bumped?"  She's claiming she was bumped b/c United wanted to appease this politician.  United claims the lady canceled her flight, or at least a leg of it, and that's why they thought there was a 1st-class seat to put the politician in.  I don't know who's lying, but I'd be surprised if United went with a story that could be disproven so easily if it wasn't true.

I didn't see this press release you mention, but she acknowledges United apologized, it just wasn't a good enough apology and wasn't in writing.




she also seems pretty dumb by posting the image of her printed boarding pass as proof she didn't cancel her flight on her app.

yeah, people love to pile on airlines but in general they do a bang up job of transporting people all over the world 24/7 without killing them.

an employee at a service center apologizing isn't an apology from the company.  i 100% agree with her on that.  those people are forced to apologize from the moment they answer a phone to when they hang up, it's meaningless.

I haven’t seen any indication that the Congresswoman did anything but take an upgrade that she was given. United controls that, she doesn’t. I don’t think some United gate agent upgraded her because of her office.  If anything, it’s because she flies back and forth to DC all the time and has status.

I also don’t get how an apology from the CEO greatly differs from a call center. Neither really means it.

Probably is.the case.  I just don't believe the Congresswoman or United.  Why was lady moved to cheqpo seats?  Why did Congresswoman get to sit in first class instead of the seat they made the teacher sit in?  Why didn't the Congresswoman volunteer to move?
