They’re named after their mayor

you guys my MIL is perhaps one of the biggest chiefs fans out there (that doesn't have either a criminal record or a problem with drug abuse) and she was trying to teach my 2 yr old to say "go chieeeeeefs" but my daughter just kept saying "go cheese" (she really loves cheese btw) and that feels like it would also maybe be a good name for the team b/c its cow-adjacent but first things first need to get the lawyers to send a C&D to the grean bay packers

Can't speak to the other ones across the country but the midget mascot here in Iowa is from a wrestling weight class, I think they used to call little kid wrestlers that but they've eliminated the nomenclature. The district that uses that mascot just had hearings about it last year and they decided to keep it.

Quote from: Ann Coulter
She’s an absolutely ridiculous character and the only people who say they support her are people who probably, genuinely are sexist. And, “Oh I support the girl. Good for you. You like girls!”

No, she’s utterly, completely, preposterously ridiculous. I don’t think she will get more than 2% of the vote. And you know how I hate making predictions about things like that, but she’s just a preposterous creature.

But her candidacy did remind me that I need to immigrate to India so I can demand they start taking down parts of their history. What’s with the worshipping of the cows? They’re all starving over there and they’re worshipping cows? Do you know they have a rat temple where they worship? Rats? Hey babycakes, why don’t you go back to your own country and reconsider that history?

Quote
She then riffed on “American Indians” (as opposed to Americans who emigrated from India) and said football teams were named after them “out of admiration.”

Gross. Especially if you wonder whether he would’ve done it if the Chiefs got bounced in the wildcard round.

Am I doing the math right in that he served 18 months of a 36 month sentence?

Is there a process that doesn't involve commuting a sentence for someone to get out early? I thought it was common for people to do less time than their original sentence.

That would be parole

Yea so why didn't they just grease the wheels of the parole board, seems weird to get it commuted. Looks like a really high percentage of inmates never do their full sentence.

Other than being Andy Reid's son, there is no reason this case should even be known by the governor.

A parole board or whatever releasing him is a non-issue as long as it's in line with normal process.

Yep. I don’t know much about the governor’s record, but I’m fairly confident he has commuted an excessively low number of DUI cases.

It’s about that insulting.  If a regular human causes permanent brain damage to a child while drinking and driving (and as a repeat offender with substances)  they are doing serious time.
