Well yea, that's what every major decisionmaker does. The good ones are capable of weeding out the super dumbass suggestions, though.

Or is the data coming up "say dumbass things, get elected" this year? Because neither candidate seems to be saying hard truths followed up by detailed plans. Mostly just media byte / headline grabbing phrases. Followed up by repeated rhetoric and calculated mudslinging that hilariously all seems to be aimed to please the voters they already have in their pocket.

My point is that politicians are very much accountable for what they say, even if they didn't write it.

My favorites:

Candidate once supported something that seems similar to the oppositions viewpoint? He must be a liar and is obviously not truly a "political viewpoint".

Candidate changed their mind because data over time allowed them to see that they were previously wrong? That candidate is obviously impossible to trust. You must always know from the get go the answers to everything. You are not allowed to have an evolving opinion.

This alone is the main reason GWB was able to beat John Kerry, because conservatives succeeded in painting him a flip-flopper. Flip-flopping doesn't seem to matter much to them now tho :excited:

I was in deep meditation, and this thread popped into my head, as well as the toxicity of arguing politics over the internet and following news in general. Always thought to leave, but was hard with so much winning. There was so much trolling to look forward to as well - having momentum, only part 1/5 of email hacks, debates, potential Trump win. But it's time. I'll always remember the time I completely destroyed Kat Kid when he tried to get all smarty pants. My last word will be Clitler.

Quote
Here is a map showing which states that are so partisan that either Candidate A's solid supporters can defeat Candidate B on their own, or don't stand a chance at all.

So basically, in Kansas, it doesn't matter so you can go ahead and vote 3rd party to make your statement.

Yea, some states divide electoral votes by districts instead of just being a winner take all state (much better idea, IMO). Those particular districts must just happen to be split pretty evenly.

If there is one thing we know for sure it's that this election is very important.  Lots of things will change for the worse if one certain person gets elected over another certain person.  So make sure you vote because this is important.  Things will not basically stay exactly the same in your day to day life regardless of who the president is.  A lot is at stake.  And there is definitely not basically nothing at stake.

Hmmmmm.  Judging from the news and my social media feed I'm gathering that a lot of people believe that their rights and freedoms as an American depend on who the President is.  I wonder why.  Maybe they don't know how our democratic republic works?  Maybe just stupid/dumb?  Interesting and perplexing.
