Don't lump all republicans together. I don't do that with democrats. There's some extremist on both ends of the spectrum and they're truely rough ridin' idiots.

I agree, but you really should check spelling and grammar whenever you make this sort of comment.

Can someone recap what he's been doing? I hear a lot of ppl are pissed, but i'm too lazy to look into it. Just bullet points would be great. TIA.

Kathleen issued an executive order making LGBT people a protected class.

Brownback issued an executive order to repeal that executive order.

To my point above, the Sebelius EO did no such thing. The 14th amendment already took care of that. It was as stupid and innocuous as the order rescinding it.

There's a tremendous amount of ignorance on display today.

this is on par with ending net neutrality, in terms of something i thought we could all get behind. but nope.
why do FSD and KSUW just have to defend the egregiously wrong, just because a guy with (R) after his name is responsible?

While we're at it, are there any other "protected classes" we should create so it will be easier for state ees to bring frivolous suits in the (already extremely unlikely) event they are fired? Obese people? That may already be covered by the ADA. Lefties? Gingers? I mean really, I guess the gov can do whatever he/she wants by executive fiat. What would you like to add?

I think the homosexuals cover it for now. I'd just read the bible, though. Anyone who God hates in there that isn't already on the list should be on it.

For now? But what do you think we'll need next? Let's be forward thinking about this! Remember, it's just an EO away...
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

When people in the government try to pass laws making government services optional for a select group, they are in need of protections.  If the government attempted to pass a law saying Police Officers can decide whether helping an obese person is against their religion, we should go ahead and protect them too.

No, we just need to protect people who are actively discriminated against in their day to day lives at this time. It's also funny how you and governor Brownback claim that this should be handled by legislature and not executive order, yet Brownback created a new EO to make everyone other than homosexuals a protected class.

i just, don't get the positive in this. there has to be a benefit, or a positive in mind, to every move you make as a legislator, and i just don't see one here.

is it really just outright hating gays?

I keep hearing that he is eyeing a presidential run, but I just can't believe he would be dumb enough to think he could win. This move could make sense in that context, though, given how well Santorum did last time.

this is my understanding of the law: state employees can't be fired because of their sexuality.

JUST LEAVE IT ALONE. THAT'S A GOOD LAW. DON'T OVERTHINK THIS YOU rough ridin' IDIOT.

i know i'm not saying anything everyone doesn't already know. usually i will listen to cop out justifications for moves that seem stupid, and i'm just not seeing it for this one.

As far as leaving such things to legislature, we would most likely get the same result.  The KS legislature loves hating gays.  Yesterday 980 was discussing a new proposed bill in the KS House that redefines the reqmts for foster parents:
1. must be married (in ks, that means "not gay")
2. must have one of the two parents be full time stay at home
3. must never have alcohol in the house
4. never have been arrested or any record at all
5. must attend "a social function, including non-family, that meets often, preferably once a week" - meaning church.

They were discussing how there is basically no way this doesn't pass, because voting against this would give opponents so much ammo for the next run.

KS really wants the christian version of Sharia law.

Not sure how calling something innocuous and stupid constitutes "defending" it. But you're just as dumb as the rest of the retards in this thread, so to each his/her/its own.

Read my posts, it's all you need to know.

If you feel a need to speculate as to whether Sam's true motive was symbolic gay-hating or small gubmint ideology, then carry on.  The EO has no practical effect on gays, nor anything to do with the legislature.

You're probably right to say they're both equally ineffective/innocuous, but man it's a huuuuuuuge stretch to say they're equally stupid.

I've never like Brownback, just hate he's affiliated in any way with K-State.

But I can't help but laugh at the absurdity of his actions.   This is just a knee jerk reaction right?   There's something that's not being said, or some kind of clarity that will eventually spring forth that will make more sense out of this . . . right?

Otherwise, just wow.  There should be an investigation into how many hours went into researching this EO and the people of the state should be reimbursed for all the expenses involved in this idiocy.

he either:

a)hates the crap out of gays and doesn't care who knows it
b)is too stupid to know how a move like this would look to the public

either way, he's a rough ridin' idiot
