« on: May 16, 2013, 08:26:23 AM »
Current chance put at 2%
IRS hearing will be fun

Media is starting to turn on him (even President Bush new you don't tap the media's phone lines)

If he loses the media completely is will be Nixon all over again.

The media will forgive him. You can already see it in the way they discuss the issue. It's like they're talking about it because they know they should be outraged over it, but deep down they're all still in love. "If this were Bush" they would be (literally, in the case of Chris Matthews) foaming at the mouth.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

You sure about that? This really rocked the media hard. I can see a shift here. I really can. Time will tell I guess.

I think it's important to distinguish between subpoenaing phone records and wiretapping phone calls.

Wolf Blitzer is a good example. Ideology trumps everything.

I hope he resigns a week early just as a going away president for Biden. Would be so boss. Like just give a brief "seacrest out" press conference and toss Biden some keys.

I thought Nixon had no knowledge of the Watergate activities until after they actually happened?

I think it's important to distinguish between subpoenaing phone records and wiretapping phone calls.

All digital phone conversations and communications are now recorded and archived. Wiretapping is no longer necessary. With the phone records they can just go and find the digital files and listen. Thank you Patriot Act.

Thank you for getting it right, take note LSOC.

The heavily fortified $2 billion center should be up and running in September 2013. Flowing through its servers and routers and stored in near-bottomless databases will be all forms of communication, including the complete contents of private emails, cell phone calls, and Google searches, as well as all sorts of personal data trails—parking receipts, travel itineraries, bookstore purchases, and other digital “pocket litter.” It is, in some measure, the realization of the “total information awareness” program created during the first term of the Bush administration—an effort that was killed by Congress in 2003 after it caused an outcry over its potential for invading Americans’ privacy.

why would they have to subpoena phone records if they could just get the information covertly from the NSA

Because this is "the most transparent administration in history".

also, it doesn't exist yet and also won't store all digital communications. They'd have to partner with The Shiver for that kind of capacity.

The AP issue is a much larger indictment of the Obama administration that anything as yet.  That flies directly at the foundation of the 1st amendment.
