Finally, you do realize that the "wackos" in kansas already lowered your taxes for the year?  Which, given the above, you strongly approve of.

All this does is kick the can down the road for another debt ceiling showdown. For everyone's sake that better include massive spending cuts.

Almost no one is claiming it is a grand victory.  The reason things are being kicked down the road is that there was not enough agreement to achieve a grand bargain based on simpson-bowles or any other framework.  The fact that the U.S. spends more than the next 10 biggest counties combined on defense must be addressed.  The contours of our entitlements must be addressed.  Discretionary spending is what everyone loves to demagogue, but that is not the problem.  We need massive cuts to the pentagon, we need to change eligibility requirements/retirement age for social secuity/Medicare.  Those things were never going to be decided in a month or two by a lame duck Congress.  Criticize Obama all you want, but he can't be blamed for everything Congress has failed to do.  He failed to embrace and campaign on Simpson-Bowles, that would've been my preference, but I think we are too far along for their not to be real progress achieved in the next year or two.  I will admit if I am wrong, but I think locking in the Bush tax rates means deductions/entitlements/the pentagon finally are discussed.
