That's pretty awful.  2 trillion over ten years is like, not very much money. Medicare is 3 times that much as is.

I have honestly never heard of people questioning how a single Representative is going to “implement her agenda.”

I've never seen a representative getting elected winning the primary for their first 2 year term in any office being treated like they are the new face of a political party before this, either.

Hardly the most extreme primary winner for a spot in the house.

Well she says herself that she is a democratic socialist, which is a party that has 35 elected officials in the whole country which including city council members. I'm not sure who else would be the face.

I think it's really cool that a working class woman was able to beat one of the top democrats in a primary election. I think she should probably serve a term before people start treating her like a party leader, though. She clearly is not ready.

I think if you asked policy questions to pretty much any junior representative candidate, you would get some not super well thought out answers. So the criticisms don’t seem very sincere to me.

Of course that comes with the territory when you take advantage of media interest to put yourself out there and share your ideals. So I don’t particularly fault any side other than those who act like if AOC can’t explain it then it must be a terrible platform.

with about 6% of the electorate.

i'm not convinced she would have even won her district if primary turnout was typical of a normal non-ny primary election.  which makes me skeptical of the size of the dsa surge in the democratic electorate.  clearly it exists, but i think coverage of aoc has been excessive compared to the proportion of the electorate whose views she embodies.

i could be wrong.  a lot of that gets back to how you view the sanders vote in 2016 (pro-socialist or anti-clinton/anti-insincere politician).

i almost posted "i don't appreciate being accused of expressing emotion." as a response, but then i remembered that my second favorite goEMAW persona is to be super angry, outraged and insulting about stuff.

Somebody posted a few pages back about how Rick Thompson flew in Occasional-Cortex and Bernie for a campaign rally - in Wichita, KS - and 4,000 very excited morons showed up. And you don’t think socialism is popular in the Democrat Party?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

I remember someone going down to the rally and talking about how stupid bringing a far left socialist into Kansas was because socialism isn't that popular
