« on: September 29, 2014, 09:57:00 AM »
As you guys know, e have a lot of input into who the Jayhawks of Kansas will select for their brand new Head Coach (in Football).   Let's take this responsibility seriously (no jokes come on guys).  Select a coach, give us a reason why and a suggested salary!  This will be fun and productive!

ATTN: KU FANS!!!! THIS IS FOR YOU TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MOST!

Ron Prince

We all know that Snyder left this program in a pile of crap, the facilities are awful, no setting, and Ron ended up 17-20 with several wins over Top 10 teams, contended for North crowns, and went bowling.  If he could do that at K-State, there's no telling what he could do with the facilities and setting in Lawrence.  Also, he's had more NFL experience since K-State so he will have a lot of new ideas to enact in Lawrence.  Am I completely off base here?  KU fans I know would probably slide down the piss troughs in the Mem Stadiums bathrooms with a 17-20 record, Top 10 wins, and fun and exciting style of play, not to mention, great non con schedules.

Salary:  $2,000,000 USD

I do not have any legitimate candidates for KU.  I'm not trying to be mean or anti-TSC, but here are my reasons why I think KU will have some major problems finding a coach:

1) Basketball school - KU has not given football the attention it deserves in the past 5 years.
2) Facilities - Simple renovations will not work.  They are having major infrastructure problems.  They need to pour in $350m
3) Fans - The fans have shown to be apathetic towards the football program.  Though the team has been horrible, it is known that fans don't come back after halftime (even during Orange Bowl year)
4) Big 12 competition - It will be very hard to build KU into a 6 win team in a round-robin conference.
5) Salary - rumors going around that KU does not want to pay their next head coach like they have the last two.  That will make it even harder for someone to come in to a program that doesn't want to pay big money for a coach to put his career on the line.
6) Recruiting - Lawrence is in fly-over country.  A new coach will have to have major ties to KS/OK/TX in order to get some decent talent.
7) Alumni Support/Donations - They like to pay to get rid of a coaches, but it seems like any/all major athletic donations are for basketball.  No additional funding from private donations will not help with #2.

Some positives for a new KU Football Coach:

1) Can't get any worse than the program is now.
2) Stadium no longer has a track.
3) Could possibly get a very long contract and suck and still get paid by KU for multiple years
4) Harvard of the Midwest
5) The setting around the stadium
6) LHC Bill Snyder is getting old and might die soon.

A new coach for KU should get a $1.5m per year contract with bonus incentives (wins, rival wins, bowl eligibility, etc.).  Contract should not exceed 3 years.

Kurt Bryan - Pretty much the next Malzahn/Briles.  High School coach who is an offensive genius.  Invented the A11 offense that essentially makes every player eligible.  With a mind like that, you don't need talent.  He could have KU in the hunt in year one.

Bronco Mendenhall was rumored to have interest when Weiss was hired. Would be as good as any other realistic option. Sorry I don't have a pic but he's a decent looking white guy.

Perhaps they could do some sort of a hologram image much like the Tupac concert... This may be their only hope for success.

Pay: whatever the hologram machine thingy costs.

If I am Cheyenne, I do whatever it takes to get Mike Leach.  He owns Snyder.

Doc Holliday, Marshall University
Plus:  Rebuilt a program, currently  has a boss MAC team.  Hire would allow Holliday to transition into a power 5 conf program.  Has mastered sunglasses on cap visor look that would play well in Lawrence.
Minus:  Hangover from previous MAC head-coach hire.  Is KU still paying Turner Gill?  Few recruiting ties to region that KU has to recruit from.
Pay:  $1.5 to $2 million.

KU has this weird fascination will NFL coaches.
Greatest show on Turf, owns a super bowl ring.
Basically the NFL's version of the Pirate.

Give him 3 million per year, because if it doesn't work you can still point to the fact that you will over pay and get 3 to 5 2 years.
