I mean, having some beers at Double Shift and then walking to the Cerner Ballpark in downtown KC doesn't sound half bad to me. :dunno:

Not at all, though I'd rather if we are going to move it to have it be in the crossroads opening towards downtown, actually having it in the loop is like not being able to see the forest through the trees.

Also, _FAN, if you took your two twitter posts out of context it looks like they are starting to demolish Kauffman like right now.

Man the comments. I can't believe the amount of people who don't want downtown baseball.

<------- wants to keep the K

We have a stadium that is unique in MLB, and as a city have done a terrible job at preserving anything historic. The reason is that things 40-60 years old don't seem to be worth preserving, and we tear them down all the time.

Every stade besides Fenway, Wrigley, Dodgers, and Oakland are all the new downtown style parks. They're great, but its cool that we have the only stade built when it was built.

Kind of a clunky wording there but I get the sentiment but Kauffman (and Dodger Stadium) is the product of an era where most of those new downtown stadiums came from, namely cookie-cutter bowl like stadiums in the burbs with essentially symmetrical fences and stadium structure. Essentially-boring and totally utilitarian (and I think any objective look a the K prior to the revamp would confirm this). IMO after old Yankee Stadium was torn down only Wrigley and Fenway deserve any sort giant nostalgic treatment. Dodger Stadium is close only cause it was the first of the cookie cutter breed, and we don't want to be in any sort of company as Oakland.

All of this is a long winded way of saying it's been a long time coming to get rid of all these 60's and 70's stades and go towards the retro-modern look, which I happen to like a lot. Not saying it's any sort of justification to need a new stade, I think Kauffman is pretty great and could be used for decades, just that it's an inevitability.

Now if they could pick it up and put it down in the crossroads opening towards downtown, will not be opposed to it.

Yeah what makes the K diff from the other stades from 60s and 70s is that its a baseball park and not a concrete doughnut. Also that its amaze and wonderful.

Supporting local businesses throughout I would be completely for.

Not much except when like most of the stadium in the big leagues from like 1970-early 2000s all looked like those but worse. I don't necessarily hate it, but there were a lot of rampant symmetrical boring ass stadiums.

Short list:
Kingdome
Veterans Stadium
Metrodome
Old Busch Stadium
Three Rivers Stadium
Shae Stadium
Riverfront Stadium

Astrodome only gets a pass cause it was the first to do its thing.

Those are all round multi purpose donuts. What does that have to do with the K or LA?

Same time frame and styling, the only thing that saves K and LA are the non-multi purpose part of it. I mean, you can't tell me that pre-updated K was some ground breaking architectural marvel. And the updating really just added amenities and made it nice. I've already said that, but those two stadiums as well, especially pre-updated K was boring AF uninteresting concrete behemoths akin to everything else made in the late 60s-70s. Just cause they didn't bowl it doesn't make it groundbreaking, after all LA did that styling first. You want a pointy full donut experience of why it's boring AF just walk across the parking lot to Arrowhead, or if you want 80% circles of concrete boringness drive up to the airport. All those structures are in the same goddamn vein.

There is nothing wrong with the K except location and Arrowhead is damn near the most perfect football stade of all time

I love the K. It's fantastic. I'd just like downtown baseball better.

Not only would it be cool with the buildings, but visitors from the KS side would benefit tremendously.
