75% flood Aggie in P&L right now, just talked to a 40 year old flood Aggie who sold his percentage of the family farmland to be able to make the trip with his 3 kids (divorced, wife left him for a preacher on TV).

The kids were asking if they could eat something before the game but he just kept buying Busch lites.

With our pud path the the final 4 let's get this thread fired up.

Anyone have any pro-tips on what area of Houston to stay in for the final 4? I'm planning to drive and looking for an area close to NRG that also has restaurants and bars in the area etc.

I was pretty disappointed to see we didn't even get 1 vote in the AP poll. If we beat the Hilljacks from western Virginia next week maybe we can sneak into the rankings?

Really I just want Dlew's Studs N Duds to come back.

I watched a little of their game against UT and am not worried about them one bit. Max Duggan? He's no Jonathan Moxon.

The only reason this may be close is if William Howard III gets some freshman nerves or something silly like that.

Kansas State Football / Help Ben ji get the Jazzzzzz! He deserves
« on: September 17, 2020, 08:22:16 PM »
Today I was a contestant on Stump the Chumps during Petros show. I "Stumped" the chumps with my Question about the first live CFB broadcast on ESPN (1982 Independence Bowl between Kstate and Wisconsin).

https://omny.fm/shows/the-program/h2-stump-the-chumps-0-00-38-44

(19 min mark)

Their return Question was "what was the first CFB game to be nationally broadcast"? They claimed that it was TCU vs KU in 1951 but I can find no reference this was correct.

The end result is that I do not get to eat the delicious Jazzzzzz that I rightfully deserve.

Please retweet this and comment about this injustice.

Essentially Flyertalk / Most Forgettable State?
« on: February 20, 2020, 09:44:37 AM »
Its gotta be Delaware right? I think I went the past 2 years without thinking about the state for more than 2 seconds at a time, just a weird forgettable state IMO. Why is it even a state? If you gave the entire Delmarva Peninsula to Maryland tomorrow 95% of people in this country wouldn't even notice until they looked closely at the new American Flag.

Here are some more data points to back up my argument

- 2nd smallest state by size and 5th smallest by population.

-Their largest city is only 70k people and is a suburb of a larger city in another state.

- The most famous person to come out of their state is Joe Flacco

-They only have 3 county's for the entire state. THREE COUNTYS! Here in KS if the wind is right I could kick a cotton ball from Sherman to Ellis County.

- Its in the Northeast but 90% of the state is hayseed chicken farmers or carny's spending the winter tinkering with the teacup ride. The other 10% exists to dodge taxes.

Make your predictions here!

ben ji's prediction : Cats win 30-27....They outgain us by 250+ yards but have 3 Turnovers including this play below

Quote
"Purdy under center, 2:13 seconds remaining with the clones up 27-23 and threatening again at the Wildcats 13 yard line with a 2nd and 8..... Purdy takes the snap and fakes the handoff to Hall and O MY GOODNESS HE IS CRUSHED...THE BALL IS LOOSE AND THE WILDCATS HAVE IT.

REGGIE WALKER SCOOPED UP THE FUMBLE AND IS IF OFF TO THE RACES. Thirty, Twenty Five, Twenty and number 51 is going to walk into the endzone for a WILDCAT TOUGHDOWN. KYLE THE SACK MACHINE BALL WAS THE ONE THAT HIT PURDY IN THE BACKFIELD AND CAUSED THE BALL TO GET LOOSE. What a play by the young man from Shawnee Mission East"

After that play ISU starts driving and gets into FG range but is called for a phantom 15 yard facemask penalty that should of been against the Katz. Game ends with Purdy throwing a hail mary that is batted down in the endzone.

Essentially Flyertalk / Brownbackistan Breakout - A gEMAW Story

Brownbackistan Breakout

The year is 2015.

The United States of America suffers a major socioeconomic collapse and power vacuum sweeps the country. A radicalized Christian Government rises to power in the Great Plains and renames the Central United States Brownbackistan. News spreads about a newly created state to the west called "Bears"  that is super awesome causing Premier Brownback to quickly seal the borders of Brownbackistan.

In the thick of these Political Maneuvers, Steve Dave, a prominent BBS'r living in Omaha makes a break west for the newly created state of "Bears". With the major Interstates turned into Mad Max Zones and armed only with his trusty 16 gauge shotgun(No Ammo) Steve Dave will need to travel a perilous 350 miles undetected to reach safety.

Kansas State Football / Heading to WV for the game? Read this first!
« on: September 20, 2018, 04:12:44 PM »
Fellow EMAWs,

I had the displeasure of attending our last game at Miller Puskar Stadium in 2016 with my wife and 2 young boys(age 6 and 9 at the time) and wanted to pass along some tips to anyone brave enough to make the trip this time.

Lodging – Can’t help you out here as we drove our Freedom Traveler RV up from our home base in Bird City. Trip was long but the mountains that still had their tops were gorgeous!

Tailgating – We parked at the RV lot by the stadium on Friday night and were advised by multiple WV fans to avoid tailgating outside of the stadium due to the rowdiness of the students/locals. Apparently they have had 2 stabbings the week before and 1 person died in the parking lot before the Marshall game the previous year. With 2 small future EMAW's in tow we decided to take their advice. Some WV fans did recommend we visit the Buffalo Wild Wings down the street instead of tailgating, we had never been before and I would have to say the food was subpar. My youngest Timothy got the cheeseburger and it came out cold. How do you mess up a cheeseburger?

Stadium – Miller Puskar Stadium reminds me a lot of Jack Trice except more concrete, the contractor must of got a heck of a deal on concrete as every possible surface was coated in it. After we found our seats I took the kids to the restroom and was stunned to see that none of the bathroom stalls have doors (Apparently they have had issues with people shooting up smack and overdosing during games). Of course Timmy had to go #2 so I was forced to stand where the door was supposed to be to block the view. The sight lines were alright but the whole stadium just gave me the eeeby jeebys, its like the blueprints were left over from an Warsaw Pact country. Everything was cold/gray/depressing.

I will never be making the trip again but if you are heading that way this weekend make sure to stay safe!

Sister Jean! Its great that you could join us on this amazing BBS we call home. First of all I would like to congratulate you on living to be 98 years old in that crime infested shithole that is Chicago. Way to stay on your toes!

Unfortunately for you your last couple of years on earth will be darkened by the black cloud of ANGER that the 2017/18 EMAW (short for Every Man A Wicca) bball squad will rain down upon your scrappy little school boys from Chicago. We will beat you in paint, we will beat you in aggressiveness, we will beat you in turnovers and we will beat you in life! If the wildcat nation is subjugated and starving then our empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by EMAWATTI across the world will defeat you!

When it comes to arguments there is only one sure way to win. Avoid it!!!

KU fan- Hey do you guys still have a football team over at K-State?

KSU Fan- Hey congrats on your lucky fluke of a season last year! If you keep up the good work maybe people will remember you have a football team.

KU Fan- Excuse me, what bowl game did you play in again?

KSU Fan-  Were taking a couple of years off. Our fans are almost out of money after going to 12 bowl games in the past 15 years.

KU Fan- But only 1 in the past 4 years…Your old news man

KSU Fan- Talk to me when you make it to back to back bowl games, let alone 11 in a row.

Surely you’ve heard this conversation, or variations of it, a lot. A KU fan and KSU fan aimlessly going on about which football/basketball team is better. Most of the time the KU fan isn’t going to be convinced that KSU is superior and vice versa.

The Carnegie book helps to bring some insight into how to deal with disagreements.

Welcome the Disagreement- If two people always agreed then one of them wouldn’t be necessary.

Distrust your first Impression-  Our first instinct is to be defensive. Be careful, keep your calm and watch out for your first reaction.

Control Your temper- You can measure the size of a person by what makes him or her angry.

Listen First- Give your opponents a chance to talk, and let them finish. Try to build bridges of understanding, don’t build barriers of misunderstanding.

Look for areas of agreement- When you have heard your opponents out dwell on the points or areas you agree.

Be honest- Look for areas where you can admit error and say so. Apologize for your mistakes. It will help to disarm your opponent.

Promise to think over your opponents ideas and study them carefully- Your opponent may be right. It is a lot easier at this stage to agree to think about their points than to move rapidly ahead and find yourself having your opponents say “we told you so”.

Thank your opponents for their interest- Anyone who takes time to disagree with you is interested in the same thing your are. Think of them as someone who wants to help you. You may turn an opponent into a friend.

Postpone action to give both sides time to think through the problem- Suggest that a new meeting be held later that day or the next day.

Using these methods lets have this conversation again.

KU fan- Do you guys still have a football team over at K-State?

KSU fan- Of course we do. We didn’t have as good of a season as you guys last year but we still have a team.

KU fan- Well you should probably just drop your football program. KU is the only school in Kansas that matters anymore, give it up and go farm or something.

KSU fan- I’m not going to lie, you guys had an impressive season last year. In fact KU kind of reminds me of KSU teams from the early 90’s. Your starting to build a good program. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t enough room in Kansas for two football teams though.

KU fan- We are starting to build a pretty good program. Mangino was clearly the brains behind the turnaround at KSU. Too bad he’s our coach now!

KSU fan- Mangino is a good coach who helped make the KSU program what it is now. But you should always remember that before Snyder hired him he was working at a toll booth. I think we should go grab some beers and forget about what team is better, maybe tomorrow we will realize that having two football teams in Kansas brings a lot of recognition to the state.

Avoiding the argument and complementing the other person helps to disarm them. When they realize they are not mad at you anymore it becomes much easier to find a common ground in where you can agree.

I get it. You don't think we belong here in Naw Leans with you in the CFP semifinals. I've been party rocking my face off all over this town for the last 3 days and all I've heard from you is "If Snyder hadn't pulled an Osborne and announced his retirement before the Big12 Championship Game, presented by Dr Pepper, stanford would be in over you" or " Kansas State? Purple kitties! Aint they like Racoons Ma cooks for dinna? HAHAHAHAHAHA" and "Your program ain't no better than Nebraska, having to pull on the heart string of voters to have a chance at the title"

Well guess what you cousin kissing football loving sissies. We are here and we kicked the crap out of Okie State in the the Big12 Championship game rematch presented by Dr Pepper and now we are matched up with you Atticus Fitch wannabes.

Well no crap Sherlock, every shrimp loving forrest gump immitator from across your obesity ridden state can hop on a John Deere and make the trip to Naw Leans in under 8 hrs.

Kansas State Football / WARNING: Tailgating at UT-Austin game
« on: October 20, 2015, 11:44:46 AM »
Do not eat any meat offered up by an UT tailgaters, especially in the Alumni lots.

Apparently it is a Texas Tradition that when a Bevo Dies they butcher him up and distribute the meat out to tailgaters before the next home game. I didnt believe my buddy when he told me but apparently its a thing.

Quote
Anyone know if will be the same rotation as XIII in 2006? That year they started in the foundation lots northeast of the stadium and worked their way south to the baseball stadium

Quote
Make sure you season the crap out of the meat, it was pretty tough the last time

Quote
I think this is one of the most underrated traditions in college football. We are TEXAS, we rough ridin' eat our mascots.

Whatever, all schools have weird traditions right? Hell us wild wildcats hump the air back and forward all because some building burned down.

The reason for the warning is that Bevo XIV spent its winters grazing on lands by Karnes City TX, right in the middle of the Eagle Ford Shale. That cancer riddled bovine had been ingesting fracking fluids for at least 5 years before it finally keeled over.

Enjoy the game, but watch what you eat.
