Michael Bishop, but I don't think we can get away with that.

So, Delton.

It's obviously Delton.  If the recruit they have committed for next year is as good as he's supposed to be, he will then be able to redshirt next year, and then have 2 years difference between him and Delton.  If we muddle through Ertz/Hubs/and a Cali Love that only gets used for Wildcat packages this year so we can redshirt Delton, then next year we're in the same boat of either having an average starter or an unproven redshirt freshman.  If Delton has the most upside and right now isn't that far behind where the others are, see what he can do this year.  He basically has half a redshirt year under him anyway since he was here for spring ball.

This logic is pretty compelling.

It's only compelling if your clairvoyant and know all of the following things with certainty

1. Delton Will stay healthy and enrolled at K-State for 4 years

2. Skyler Thompson is not as good as Delton and won't challenge for the starting job in the next three years

3. The only way to develop Delton is to play him. He can't learn the playbook and get stronger for a year and then compete for the starting job next year.

4. The Cats have no chance of being good/decent this year, and are willing to punt on any chance of winning a tumultuous/uninspiring Big12 by throwing a freshmen into the fire early.

But of course, no one knows any of those things.

I am amazed so many of you are willing to go Sam Hinkie and undercut the team in the short term for uncertain long term gain.

after hips, shoulder span is my next indicator of athletic prowess. ertz has a very narrow shoulder span. doesnt give me big confidence.

Now this, I will not argue. The shoulders are narrow. The frame is lean. But the arm looks nice.

I'm not sure what you're doing with making Ertz a better passer but saying they are equal runners?
[/quote]

Haven't we had mutiple people on this board saying Ertz is a better runner than he looks?
And I'm not so much saying they have equal athletic ability as much as I trust the system to allow a running quarterback to be successful no matter who he is.

I said that Stan Weber reported that Ertz is a good runner, again not sure what you're doing with "better runner than he looks." I also said in this very thread that Wyatt Thompson said he thinks Delton is the best overall QB.

So he wants Bazooka Joe because he's played a few dozen garbage time snaps? That's really really simple.

he did mention a rocket arm and being a prolific runner.

There seems to be a consensus that he's the 4th best runner and either 3rd or 4th best passer, but whateves, I don't want to piss on that guy's parade.

I want to play Delton or Banks because I have zero faith in our WRs. Ertz seems small and with limited upside and I just don't have a ton of faith in us ever being great with him under center, hopefully I'm wrong (but I never am). Zooka J is big and goofy but runs that Klein offense well.

I think it's slightly intriguing that we have 3 different guys that remind me of three former QBs: Delton --> Roberson, Bazooka Joe --> Klein, Ertz --> Waters.  I don't know enough about Banks to know if he reminds me of anyone.  I would say those comparisons are probably the ceiling for those guys so if I had my choice I would want the guy who reminds me of Ell to quarterback the 'Cats, but I would be fine if he redshirted and Bazooka Joe led the team this year.  I'm not okay with a potential Jake Waters leading this team when we have no proven play maker at wide receiver and the O-Line might be questionable.  Go 'Cats!!

Why are you comparing Ertz to Waters? Waters wasn't a good runner at all.

He was decent and deceptively quick.  I've watched some of Ertz's high school film and the end of the OSU game and there are definite similarities. Ertz is no Bishop or Roberson and his style isn't at all like Klein's.  Waters is definitely the best comparison, IMO.

K-State running QB's: Bishop, Klein, Ell, SAMs, beasley, waters > Freeman. Waters ran for close to a thousand in juco ball a year and was decent at times at K-State. He was more athletic than people give him credit for.

Ok guys I'm going to say it Hubener has the tools.  Size and strength for punishing scrambles, arm strength for bombs to our non burner WR's (yes I know that's a non) and experience.  If he can pull his head out he is our best option IMO.

That's a big if.
