So, as has been discussed many times in the cigars thread that performance doesn't matter.....that the big population and blue blood schools can all suck, but it doesn't matter. People will tune in to watch them suck.
Well, there is texas sucking last year and they can only get as many people to watch them as a team in a state with 1/9 of the population. And there is Missouri. The only D-1 school in the state and double the population of Kansas, and they played for the SEC championship. Yet, they bring nearly the same amount as KSU.
So, where is the sweet spot? How good do you have to be to get a lot of people to watch? Also, is the data skewed because of time slots? I'm sure Alabama played in a lot more prime time TV slots than other teams.
