Herrera had some really close pitches on those walks. It's amazing how fine the line is between a great performance and a terrible performance in baseball.

Is anyone shocked the series went like this?  A split series would have exceeded my expectations.  Nothing to be worried about.  Jays are awful on the road, great at home.  Royals have some key players on cold streaks.  Zobrist has been a pleasant surprise.

Am I concerned?

Not at all.

It's still extremely disappointing to (probably) lose three of four, especially the way we blew the Cueto start.

But yeah, go home, beat up on quitting Detroit, and it will all be good again.

I think the royals just gave the rest of the league the blue print to shut down donaldson.  He was useless today.

detroit is scoring like 9 a game since their trades (well, before the trades too).  i'm not sure how much quitting they've done.  they just can't pitch.

I don't think the players quit, but the organization clearly quit on this season.

Losing the Cueto one was tough.  Still thought we might have got swept this series.  I really do hate that stadium and turf.

It's hard to watch the final innings when the pitchers struggle.  Not used to that.

Bring on the Tigers. I've never been so ready to go to Detroit.

Ned knew Salvy would GIDP on the first pitch so he didn't even bother.

yeah, my point is i don't think it's any easier or harder to beat them than it was before (unless you would have happened to get a price game, which they wouldn't have).

The Donaldson, Volquez, Madson back and forth (see McCullough and Flanagan on Twitter) has been entertaining. It will be interesting if we meet in the playoffs.

Even after this weekend a playoff series vs Toronto doesn't scare me.

Why did volqy plunk him to start with? Like did we feel disrespected as a team by him beating the crap out of us?

I mean, I hope they implode and finish 5 games back of any playoff spot, but if we play them it will be entertaining.

This is where baseball is still weird to me, but pretty much this seems to be the case. I'm fine with throwing inside more to these guys though so they can't just hit off a tee though.

Blue Jays are the least of my worries.  They are awful on the road and if they have to play Wild Card game away they won't make it through.

It's a mental game. If somebody is hitting the crap out of the ball, you throw at him and hope you can get in his head.

It worked, he was completely consumed by it and was a total non factor.  Why havent teams enacted similar strategies at guys like hosmer who are completely on fire though?
