I am looking into getting an apple TV. But the stereo that I want to hook it up doesn't have an HDMI or Optical audio input and just has the standard RCA input. I looked into an optical to digital adapter, but am skeptical that it only works digitally to optically. and I looked into an HDMI to RCA but according to reviews on amazon, those don't work either. Any ideas?

Out of everything that AppleTV does, you want to connect a stereo to it??

Why not just play music from a computer wirelessly to it?
I want to hook it up to a tv too, but i still want to hook it up to the stereo independently.

Basically you can play your music wirelessly and hook up Netflix.

Yeah, but Avalanche fans are the worst.

Avs set the record for most consecutive sell outs. Quit being so butthurt.

My favorite team is the Red Wings.  The Avs are evil because of Claude Lemieux.  Do not root for the Avs.

Remember when Patrick Roy kicked Osgood's ass?

I watch a lot of hockey and study a lot of film and the Avs are just fun to watch. Good passing, good shooting. I love them.
I edited your post so it's better.

are the jets any good?  i have a sizable amount of jets clothing, so i hope they are good.
With the salary cap being so low, it's its almost impossible for teams to maintain a dynasty. When a teams wins the cup or goes far in the playoffs, the players demand more money and the teams can't afford to keep all of them. So I guess they will be gaurenteed to be good at least once in the next five years. And why do you have Jets gear?

Does anyone know if the strike resulted in any major rule changes?

Big time Sharks fan here. I got into hockey growing up watching the Wichita Thunder who put together some great runs in my youth.

Good advice on buying NHL '13 to better understand the game. I know I was confused by a lot of the penalties when I first started watching. Check out the wikipedia pages for simpler explanations for rules and penalties.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Hockey_League_rules

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penalty_(ice_hockey)

Keep in mind NHL rules and penalties vary a bit from the Olympics, international play, etc.

I love it because it's fast paced and physical. A man's sport. For instance, if you're being a douche, somebody will simply kick your ass. There are penalties and ass-kickings that prevent diving (the equivalent of flopping in the NBA or soccer) so it's not a bunch of pussies laying down looking for a whistle. Very physical and intense, rabid fans. Games are also very affordable if you're near a team. Went to the Sharks/Kings playoff games  :love:last year a few rows behind the bench and spent about $90 per. Not bad at all. Can't wait to get this thing started!

 great post. Couldn't put the thrill of hockey any better way.

Dear gE.c,

Pretty jacked up for my mid-Feb trip all the way to Crested Butte to meet up with my emaw bro who is an actual ski bum and lives there.

I have skiied plenty of times and enjoy it but I usually avoid blacks because I like the casual/relaxing version of skiing. But my friend who I am visiting told me Crested Butte's blues are like most places blacks.  :ohno:

Anybody skiied Crested Butte that can confirm/deny?

Sincerely,

Concerned in Kansas City
I skied Crested butte last year. I was with my sister who hadn't skied in ten years. It actually worked out great because a lot of the runs are groomed on one side but they leave moguls on the other. Great for multi skilled groups. And there's never any lines!

does the NHL coming back hurt the image of the Frozen Four??

but really, i was worried i'd have to settle for some pud denver team versus some elite new england team in the natty champ.

if the nucks can't win the west then IDGAF about the NHL anymore.
Reason to like the Avalanche over the Canucks.

MTD told me it sucked IRL here's part two of icing.

Team A is playing Team B. the puck is on the side of Team B. If team B shoots the puck down to the side of Team A past the goal line it is considered icing. If team A touches the puck before team B the icing is called. If team B touches it first the icing is not called.

I feel like hockey is a sport I could really get into.

I dont have any idea whats going on but when I stumble upon a game while channel surfing I'll watch it for a while. The main thing that confuses me is the 2 blue lines and "Icing" if someone can explain that to me I would greatly appreciate it.

Also I am looking for a team to start rooting for. I'm leaning towards the penguins due to having NHL Faceoff 96 and powning my little bro with Lemuix and jagr...also they have sidney crosby who is apparently really good when he is not spaghetti brained.

Would like suggestions though

blue lines are for offsides. The puck has to cross the blue line before any player on the offensive team can. that's the funtion of the blue line at its basic. watching hockey will get you more familiar with the importance of it.

Icing: A player can't shoot the puck to the other side if he is behind the center line (a picture would really help describing this). but if the puck is shot from beyond the center line over the goal line, it is considered icing. the icing can be called off if the team on offense touches it before the defending team.

being from denver i grew up with hockey (Go Avs) and played for 8 years. I tried to explain it as best i could. Let me know if this is confsing

Kansas State Football / Re: Oregon vs. K-State

Is this destiny?

If LSU wins this weekend, then USC beats Notre Dame, then yes.

I think Oregon would jump Notre Dame if they both won out.  Neither will jump us though if all 3 win out.  So all that is needed is a Bama upset and it will be K-State v OU with Notre Dame getting left out.

There is no way in hell an undefeated Notre Dame is left out of the title game, especially in favor of K-State.  Voters are looking for ways to keep the Irish in and they're looking for ways to keep KSU out.  Did you see them criticizing us for not beating OU as badly as Notre Dame did?  Did you notice they didn't criticize ND for any of their close wins over pud teams like BYU and Purdue, yet the Cats get criticized for not blowing out OU in Norman?

If the voters didn't put them ahead of us after beating OU, they're not going to.

Yes they will. Its like the same BS when michigan moved from 17 to 14 in the final week even though they didn't play a game and no one in front of them lost.  :barf:
