Even though I have lived in Kansas my whole life I don't think I could ever be a Royals fan. Seems like the worst thing in the world.

It's really not much worse than being a KState fan

While the Royals have had some dry spells hitting/scoring, I rarely think of offense as a major problem for this team. Especially when you are throwing a guy like Sanchez out there every 5th game.

Agree, the offense has actually been pretty good the last 30 days or so. Outside of Frenchy, Dyson, and Betencourt that is. And Betencourt has something like 24 RBI's in that span so you can't even complain too much about him. Francouer has more strikeouts than hits in that time period.

The official "Is it Myers time?" stat of the night... after tonights game Francoeur had the lowest SLG% of any player in the starting lineup and teams with Pena, Maier, and Betancourt as the only players currently on the 25 man with an OBP% below .300

Yea... plus how are we the 13th school to offer a kid from Hiawatha who (if legit) already has offers from Cal and UCLA?

So Jeter will win the fan voting I assume, and do managers still select the reserves?  If so, that could be good for Escobar...

In the AL they get to pick 8 players on top of the fan and player picks but he has to consult with other managers and the league office. I heard Ron Washington wants Tim Collins so I'm not sure if that will hurt Escobars chances or not.

What hurts his chances more is that Washington's own SS deserves All-Star consideration himself

24 team playoff going through January 7 would eliminate the bowl system.

Hence, not gonna happen.

Not really, if there's still 3 other post-season bball tourneys I'm sure there'd still be room for bowl games. And yes, people would still watch them. None of the bowl games would really even lose prestige because of a playoff except for the BCS/Cotton Bowl types and all the NCAA would have to do is make those the sites for later rounds of the playoff.

so is pretty much everyone getting on board with fire dayton? or does Glass need to go first?

If Glass would sell the team I'm ok with Dayton staying. If Glass keeps the team I'd like to see them go a different direction. Moore has done a decent job drafting, but his track record with minor trades and signings is below average which you can't really have if the owner isn't willing to spend money.

If the Royals had an owner willing to spend money on quality FA or take chances on going after big names on the trade market I'd be interested to see what Moore could do.

That really is astounding. I mean any time you hear "...in baseball history" it's pretty amazing given the amount of time and games played in baseball history. Plus for an AL team it's even more amazing.

i went and checked the mellinger article. previous record is 601 1/3rd. at the time of the article (6/9) royals were on pace for 631. blowing right by it.

I had a nice long post written out about why the Royals bullpen pitching so many innings wasn't really all that bad... then this happened. Mazzaro, Hochaver, etc... the Royals should just rename every starting pitcher left on their roster Kyle Davies.

sal perez is a late scratch for the chasers tonight, packing his bags and heading to the big club  :woot:

Just saw this... if he can come in and hit like he has for Omaha it could be a nice shot in the arm for the offense

So who's the Royals All-Star(s)(!)?

Will we actually get a position/DH player this year? Or just the usual Bullpen guy?

Hoping Escobar or Billy personally.

should be alcides, moose or billy but will be broxton and that's all.

I'm hoping Ron Washington throws the hope team a bone and adds a couple R's. Moose and Billy would be fantastic.

Didn't have any more bench players. He'd already pinch hit with Chen.

Eh, he's probably still a nazi

i may be missing something, since i'm not watching.  but did yost just have his pitcher strike out to end the inning and then change him out before facing a batter?  rough ridin' nazi.

Didn't have any more bench players. He'd already pinch hit with Chen. Cardinals just had their second pitcher pinch hit

okay everyone, i'm a current junior Peru High School. i personally know #40 and he is no longer a student at Peru High School. He recieved no disciplinary action and played the rest of the season. he recieved a scholarship to play basketball at Kansas Weslyan University. now, personally knowing #40, its possible that he did this on purpose. but i was not present at this specific basketball game so i did not see first hand what happened.? i cannot choose either side since i was not there,

who's excited to watch alex tanney throw a 50+ yard strike, hit the upright, and have it ricochet into the arms of bowe for the home opener go ahead td?

He's a big kid with a big arm... definitely far worse players to take a flyer on. If King Carl still ran the show I could guarentee you he'd be cut, sign with someone else (probably a division rival) and go on to be a 3/4 time Pro Bowler.

Predicto:

Kings beat the Devils in 6

Devils in 6. Too much experience on NJ's end. Goaltending is huge and let's face it, Martin might be the best to ever play.

Brodeur is one of the best ever, but at this stage of their careers I'd say Quick is just as good, if not better. I think LA's physical style will wear down NJ over the course of the series.

yeah, it's stupid that they just don't call them open scrimmages.

Also, with all of the little kids playing soccer out there and the way that soccer has exploded circa 1994, why the eff aren't we better?

Small communities just don't play soccer. There will never be a soccer Jordy.

Lots of smallish communities play soccer, just not past about the 6th grade. If the US could ever get more JH/HS to play soccer it would probably help. If my HS would have had soccer I probably would have played. I don't like to brag, but I was a pretty damn good goalie for my team as a 6th grader :gocho:

Last summer I found a cheap, little snow cone maker on clearance at Target and bought it for my parents' church (and you know it's a small town because there's only one church in the town). But about a month later someone broke into the church. They left the most of the(relatively) expensive electronic equipment, the brand new microwave and several other things of value but took the snow cone maker, the clip on microphone (but not the battery pack) and a package of hotdogs out of the fridge.

Getz to DL, Will Smith to KC.

Over/Under on number of times "Fresh Prince" or "Gettin' Jiggy With It" references are used by ESPN during his career?

Could be wrong, but I don't think that Kim has played with or for him in college.  So, take it FWIW.

Yes, but when FACKE speaks you should listen.

Do or die time for Phoenix.  LA has been a complete monster in the post-season.

Assuming LA finishes, I hope they face the devils

Hoping for Phoenix comeback just because it's the only thing keeping it from being a LA vs. NY/NJ Stanley Cup :jerk:
well, they're not going to come back.

looks like they're going to get the W today though.
I know, still the only hope I have to actually care about the SC this year
