Posse stat of the night....

Wasn't our best defensive series, but we just saw the team that has the fewest unearned runs allowed (12) sweep the team with the most unearned runs (40).

It's gotta suck to have fewer wins than unearned runs allowed.

I remember him having a difficult time in Oakland last year too. There must be something about the colosseum that makes things tough on him.

J-Guts is such a rough ridin' stud. We're blessed to have a fifth starter that is as reliably okay as that guy has been for us. He has a few really shitty games each year, but mostly he puts us in a position where we have a chance to win. That value can not be overstated. All you J-Guts haters can get bent. He may not be an actual all-star but he's an all-star in my heart. Unlike Omar Infante, who is an actual all-star.

Few weeks back when Clev took 2 of 3 from us at the K, our lead on them was down to 5. I think we can all but bury them out of the AL Central winner discussion now. They are about to get swept by Balt and will be 12 games behin us. Only 56 runs for them in their 7-14 slide.

ChiSox 13 back, but I never really was concerned about them from day 1.

in 2014 when the Royals scored 4 or more, they were 69-14 (.831). the Royals scored 4 or more runs 51% of the time.
in 2015 when the Royals score 4 or more, they are 36-4 (.900). the Royals are scoring 4 or more runs 56% of the time.

we all know the royals were pretty much unbeatable last year when they scored 4 runs. the thing is, they are even better at it this year (winning 90% of those games instead of 83%). also they are doing it more often (on pace to go 81-9 instead of 69-14).

i know what you are thinking: what about when opponents score 4 or more? do they have the same success that the royals do?

nah:

in 2014 when opponents scored 4 or more, they won only 70% of the time.
in 2015 when opponents score 4 or more, they win only 68% of the time.

it's also happening less than it did last year (despite our starting pitching):

in 2014, opponents scored 4 or more 79 times (49% of games)
in 2015, opponents have scored 4 or more 31 times (43% of games)

You know what else is helping the Royals be successful? There's about 85% of mlb's teams that are completely pud right now and the other 15% of the teams are stud city. With us playing all these puds, it's easy $!

important all star game voting discussion:

it's going to be discouraging when we see today's update. rios never had a shot, hosmer is dead in the water. fine we can accept that, cabrera and trout are the biggest names in the american league. tragically, we're probably also going to lose a realistic shot at getting moose in. it sucks, but you can't fight the mlb propaganda machine headon.

we can still get everyone else in though. infante, morales, all of them. and maybe even moose on a miracle vote. the momentum's going to look like it's against us, but today is the last mlb update, the other fans are going to see the non-royals take leads and they're going to get complacent. if royals fans remain diligent, getting in their normal 2-2.5 million per week, we can catch up on some of the close players that are going to be trailing after today's update. keep voting, we can still get 6, maybe 7 on a miracle.
