Also, Mizzou just opted out and said they would not pursue a bowl. That means we are in sole possession of the #2 APR spot!

Doesn't make even the least bit of sense, the SEC can't be happy about this.
Don't most schools lose money going to lower tier bowl games? I'm not sure why the SEC would care all that much (especially since Mizzou is liable to drag their bowl record down), and Mizzou is probably more focused on getting a new coach on the recruiting trail than getting the extra reps in practice.
Well cat...
-The schools that lose money on bowls are schools that are forced to take on huge ticket buy guarantees at high dollar amounts. This usually happens when a group of 5 school qualifies for what was previously known as a BCS bowl. Power 5 schools with terrible support, like Maryland, also fell victim to this. Obviously none of these things would be an issue for Mizzou playing in the Independence Bowl. If they did lose money it would be a miniscule amount.
-The SEC nor anyone else cares about overall bowl records.
-December 14-January 13 is a recruiting dead period, so nope they won't be on the recruiting trail.
I think this is a missed opportunity for the new coaching staff to have a month to install their systems and frankly for the players to get some swag and to spend more time together.
Mizzou's play-by-play guy was on with BRITB today and other than telling Kevin about 50 times "right on with everything you said" with regard to the protests and saying that the situation was the product of "a very liberal environment," made it seem like they are beneath taking a bowl bid at 5-7.
