I mean, we replaced pretty much everything but the general seating areas. New press box, new suites, new concourses, new concessions, new bathrooms. Plus one of the best student athlete facilities in the country, with dining, workout, academic, and a theatre. All without having to change scheduling or miss any home games. What more did you want done?

Let's see.  KSU has no where else to play home games, so it needs the stadium ready for each season (unless you want to pull a Bat Cats all road season/lets play at MHS).  KSU needs access to Vanier during the season as well.  Others are hiring firms to do similar projects with few restrictions or limited timelines.  So, as soon as you want to explain where KSU had leverage in negotiating better deals I would be happy to hear it.

I mean if Stanford built a new stadium for less money than we spent on our stuff, in one off season, I think we over spent by a lot.

They don't pay for any vehicles. They have a deal worked out with Briggs... worked there when I was in school and got to hear all the time how much Mr. Briggs loves hooking up the Athletic Department. Loaned them loaded black Yukon Denali's to pick up recruits from the airport all the time. Found a letter from Bill and Sharon to Sean and his wife for their anniversary one time (Bill didn't even sign it, Sharon just wrote "Love Sharon and Bill"). It was stuffed in the back seat pocket like it meant nothing. And under the 3rd row seat was a scrunched up signed Colin Klein Sports Illustrated. This was circa 2012.

The rest of the stadiums on Chum's list, except for TCF Bank Stadium, would be completely unacceptable for KSU to play home games at because they are  small timey, small capacity, no frills dumps obviously suitable for non P5 teams only.

UCF's stadium is basically just stacked up high school bleachers.  The Tulsa people that have been there have all laughed at it.

Because we got a bunch of dumbasses up in here. We spent a ton of money building something for the donors (WSC) and it's full on construction. Look at the amount of materials that ain't cheap to buy or install (limestone) that we used to make it. Sure, you could build a pretty nice stadium like Stanford did for that price, and Baylor did for their price, but those places aren't encased and built with the level of quality and detail the WSC, or Vanier for that matter. Especially consider what the money is being spent for. You can build it cheaper, but you got to cut corners somewhere and that's what Stanford and Baylor did. I'd also bet if we did it on the cheap, the same people would complain that we're poor and didn't spend enough to build it of quality that it should have.

This is the perfect example of the type of person who bitches about this crap. Sorry your Bugatti Veyron came with two cup holders instead of 3, please make sure to complain you didn't get my money's worth. GMAFB.

Brock is right about TCF stadium, that is the only place that can be used a viable data point in terms of acceptable quality and quantity that k-state could hope for.

I'd probably be bending over backwards to justify the cost, too, if I had made a donation to something that ended up being such a gigantic waste of money.

It is very true that WSC and new Vanier have a level of material that's well beyond many newer facilities.   I mean, we could have left new Vanier entirely pre-cast concrete like certain other schools, but instead the majority if not all of the actual building itself is limestone.
