South Carolina appears to have not made the field this year. How sad.

Wow, they didn't even make the NIT field.

that Kentucky Arizona matchup is so hot, wow. 2 blue blood conf tourney champs in the 2nd round

Just an unreal Rd of 32 matchup.

I guess we have to take the NCAA at their word when they say they don't orchestrate match-ups.

Although the KSU/Foster game is juicy, the committee could have easily put Mizzou in the same bracket as KU and also had A&M and UT play in the first round.

How bout Wichita St playing Marshall. Interesting side plot there too

The only thing I've got is that WSU's head coach's name is Marshall.  What am I missing? :dunno:

Listened to ESPN radio a bit the other day and they said 97% of the money was on KSU, by far the biggest edge in the tournament.

I may have been unclear but it was 97% of the money in the KSU/Creighton matchup.  Still seemed crazy tho.

That tells me there's not much money being bet on the game.  Cause the line hasn't moved to K-State yet.

creighton, whom i have extensively scouted this season, is going to roll us

they beat no one away from their home court. St Johns and then Ucla on a neutral court

3-6 vs Seton Hall, Providence, Butler, Marquette

The Flush says bring it on

Lol.

I said more than once Barry would be up to the challenge on Foster.

Barry made him his little BITCH

I don't think it's crazy to think a school like K-State could have a couple sweet sixteen appearances each decade. Until we stopped trying to win at basketball for like two decades that would have been a conservative expectation. Basketball landscape has changed, so it's not as easy for us to have that rate of success, but it's not like some kind of pipe dream or something to expect a couple short runs every ten years..
I wonder how many schools have multiple sweet 16s over the last 10 years

i'm glad you asked. 35 different schools have multiple sweet 16 appearances in the last 10 years (2008-2017).

here is the list:

7 Kansas, Michigan State, North Carolina, Wisconsin

4 Baylor, Gonzaga, Ohio State, UCLA, West Virginia
3 Butler, UConn, Indiana, Marquette, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Purdue, Tennessee, Villanova
2 Iowa State, Memphis, Miami (FL), NC State, Notre Dame, San Diego State, Stanford, Virginia, Wichita State

24 other schools have made the sweet 16 exactly once in that span:

it's amazing what happened to Texas.

10 years (1999-2008): 10 NCAA tournaments, 16 wins, 5 sweet 16s, 3 elite 8s, 1 final 4
10 years (2009-2018): 7 NCAA tournaments, 3 wins, 0 sweet 16s, 0 elite 8s, 0 final 4s

4 Michigan State
3 Arizona, Duke, Syracuse, UConn
2 Baylor, Butler, Gonzaga, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Villanova, Wisconsin, Xavier

final fours (2008-2017)

4 Kentucky, North Carolina
3 Michigan State, UConn
2 Butler, Duke, Kansas, Louisville, Syracuse, Villanova, Wisconsin
1 Florida, Gonzaga, Memphis, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, UCLA, VCU, West Virginia, Wichita State

if you want to use a 10 year span of tournament results to judge a program, maybe we can come up with some tiers

A++ tier (3+ final fours) 4 schools
A+ tier (2+ final fours) 11 schools
A tier (2+ elite eights) 21 schools
B+ tier (1+ final four) 23 schools
B tier (1+ elite eight) 36 schools
B- tier (2+ sweet sixteens) 35 schools
C tier (1+ sweet sixteen) 59 schools
Trash tier (no sweet sixteens) no idea how many, probably a crap ton like 292 or something

the Trash tier could probably be split up into schools that have made the tournament at least X number of times, and schools that have not, but that's more work and it doesn't matter

UPDATED!

final fours (2009-2018)

4: Kentucky
3: Michigan State, North Carolina, UConn, Villanova
2: Butler, Duke, Kansas, Louisville, Michigan, Syracuse, Wisconsin
1: Florida, Gonzaga, Loyola-Chicago, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, VCU, West Virginia, Wichita State

21 schools have multiple elite 8 appearances, and 4 of those have been skunked trying to get to the final 4:
0 for 3: Arizona
0 for 2: Baylor, Kansas State, Notre Dame

TIERS FOR YEARS (09-18)
A++ tier (3+ final fours) 5 schools
A+ tier (2+ final fours) 12 schools
A tier (2+ elite eights) 21 schools
B+ tier (1+ final four) 22 schools
B tier (1+ elite eight) 35 schools
B- tier (2+ sweet sixteens) 36 schools
C tier (1+ sweet sixteen) 59 schools
Trash tier (no sweet sixteens) 292 schools
