OT seems like the safest high first round pick.   I can think of very few busts and tons of success stories.   Kalil was a bit undersized for LT but he stepped in right away and played very well this year.

Who cares if its safe?  I want greatness.

Would take a very solid LT for the next 10 yrs over a Geno Smith type.

Yep.  That's what got the Ravens to win, the Seahawks to comeback, and the 49ers to blow out the Packers.  Solid Left Tackles, not great Quarterbacks.

I would rather not have the boring-ness of the chiefs picking an OL in the first round either, but...

Michael Oher: 1st Round Pick 2008 Ravens
Russell Okung: 1st Round Pick 2010 Seahawks
Joe Staley:     1st Round Pick 2007 49ers

For Jakesie's peace of mind and to backup/reiterate Pete here are some stats from some recent Packers draft picks in their rookie season:

Clay Matthews: 16 games played, 51 tackles, 10 sacks
Greg Jennings: 14 games played, 632 rec yards, 3 TD
Jordy Nelson: 16 gp, 366 rec yards, 2 TD
BJ Raji: 14 gp, 25 tackles, 1 sack
AJ Hawk: 16 gp, 119 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 2 int
Jermichael Finley: 14 gp, 74 rec yards, 1 TD
James Jones: 16 gp, 676 rec yards, 2 TD
Mason Crosby: 16 gp, 79.5%
Sam Shields: 14 gp, 29 tackles, 2 INT
T.J. Lang: 16 gp
Brian Baluga: 12 games started
Jarred Bush: 16 games played

That's a pretty decent history of drafting players that make an immediate impact.

Reid would be a decent hire, but I wouldn't go crazy about it. I'm an Eagles fan and I was pretty happy to see him go. Jim Johnson doesn't get near enough credit for the amazing defenses he created throughout Reid's time in Philly. As soon as Johnson died, the defense was garbage and the Eagles weren't the force they were in the last decade. Reid even made his OL coach the DC at the start of this year, which really is pretty Chiefeo, so maybe he'll be a great fit.

He would be quite disappointed by Kris Humphries if he read his wiki page.

I was wondering about this. I mean, I realize the "ha-ha" in it, but at least make sure your "all-white guy" lineup is "all-white guys"

Are Keebler "Flipsides" really just crackers with salt on one side?

The cracker goes through a dye cut machine like normal and travels down a belt. When making a normal pretzel, the entire piece of dough is dipped in a lye solution. For these crackers, they just spray the lye solution on the top so the top side gets the pretzel skin the bottom side keeps it's normal cracker skin. Lye solution is what gives pretzels it's dark brown almost leathery skin.

Some words to the wise. Shooting Advice from various Concealed Carry Instructors. If you own a gun, you will appreciate this. If not, you should get one and learn how to use it:

A: Guns have only two enemies - rust and politicians.

B: It's always better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

C: Cops carry guns to protect themselves, not you.

D: Never let someone or something that threatens you get inside arms length.

E: Never say "I've got a gun." If you need to use deadly force, the first sound they hear should be the safety clicking off.

F: The average response time of a 911 call is 23 minutes, the response time of a .357 is 1400 feet per second.

G: The most important rule in a gunfight is: Always win - cheat if necessary.

H: Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets . . . You may get killed with your own gun, but he'll have to beat you to death with it, cause it'll be empty.
I: If you're in a gun fight:
1. If you're not shooting, you should be loading.
2. If you're not loading, you should be movin,
3. If you're not movin', you're dead.

J: In a life and death situation, do something . . . It may be wrong, but do something!

K: If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you have a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?
L: You can say 'stop' or 'alto' or any other word, but a large bore muzzle pointed at someone's head is pretty much a universal language.

M: Forget the save the planet nonsense, it doesn't need saving, but you may be able to save yourself and your family.

If you believe in the 2nd Amendment, please forward.

Borrowed this from a Friend...

It will take me awhile to move on from Frank. I barely have some childhood memories of Lon Kruger keeping it real at K-State, but they are few and become fuzzier as time wears on. I really got into basketball when Altman was head coach here, not because Altman was great, but because I was finally old enough to care about sports. I was then treated to Asbury and Wooly. I stayed incredibly loyal the entire time. I wore my KSU stuff to school in Lawrence every time we hooked it up on the hardwood with KU. I bought every preseason basketball rag I could get my hands on, even though I knew we would barely get a paragraph. I attended NIT games like it was my rough ridin' job. I was forced to try and rationalize our recruiting, and how it was going to end up in something other than total crap basketball the next year. I even attended every rough ridin' non-con game of the Wooly era. I have paid my dues, and one day fortune smiled upon me, and that crazy bastard Wefald brought Huggins to K-State. Huggins hired Frank and destiny was set in motion. It was the best 5 years of my life. I felt like I had been rewarded by Karma for my loyalty that bordered on insanity. Now, Frank is gone, and I have to watch oscar rough ridin' Weber trot that abortion of an offense onto the floor every game. I have to watch the seniors that thrived under Frank, become absolute shells of themselves as basketball players. I have to watch Nino Williams play power forward. I still have a framed photo of Frank in my room, right over my  Frank Martin signed basketball. Frank fell into our laps, and a rough ridin' Scrooge-like miser from Tennessee made his life so miserable that he moved to South Carolina, a state where I'm not even sure that Cuban-Americans are allowed to vote yet. So, in conclusion, YOU'RE rough ridin' RIGHT THAT I'M NOT OVER FRANK MARTIN YET, AND I WON'T BE UNTIL oscar WEBER SUCKS EVERY LAST BIT OF MY ABILITY TO CARE OUT OF MY EMAW BODY. Fvck Currie, Fvck Weber! Viva La Revolucion! Team Frank till I die motherfuckers!!!

ha ha, I liked this post

Should be seen by Schultz, not that he'd give a crap.

Losing GT and BC, for example, to the big 10 might not damage the ACC enough to pry FSU loose.   The SEC following suit and plucking two more away just might.  I root for this.

If the SEC plucked out UNC and Duke (not likely, but that's a rumor) along with GaTech and BC to BigTen, would that make FSU happier in the ACC?  It seems they all hate the Carolina B-Ball schools.  That leaves 10 teams.  Would ABC/ESPN keep the same total money going to them? (like they did with the Big12)  That would close the money gap (same size pie, bigger pieces).  I mean, a 10-team FB conference of FSU, Miami, Clemson, VaTech, NC State, Pitt, Louisville, UVA , Syracuse, and Wake Forest with round-robin scheduling is probably better than the schedule they would play in an inflated 14-team conference with losers like Maryland, UNC, and Duke?   :dunno:

This is a pretty good point. IMHO would move the ACC up into #4 possibly #3 football conference area. Provided Pitt/VT/UM all make strides forward in turning things around from down years.

Hey, I like the Army uniforms, but they seem to hold to some tradition somehow. Most of the uniforms that make you all swoon look like they were designed in a Project Runway challenge.
Football. Not fashion. And I'll have you know I'm am wearing a purple argyle sweater today. It's a lovely classic that withstands the test of time. Kind of like our uniforms.

Maybe you're not cut out for here.

This is possibly true as I was looking for a place to talk football and you kids seem obsessed with fashion. Weird.

While we're on the topic, how ridic do those Boise helmets look? Remember how Ron Prince seemed obsessed with image (Those towel videos! ) and then we got Kirk Schulz and he seems obsessed with calling us "The Kansas State University" and dropping K-State, and adding hum-il-iating stuff like "EPAW" and Eko Cat?

I think our team should focus on stuff like learning the play book, conditioning, tackling in open space. Or they could worry about stuff like which helmet goes with their socks.

I'm pretty sure you would be much happier paying a subscription to www.gopowercat.com

Good work guys.

when it's all said and done, which hire will be criticized more, gill or weis?

Gill, and the true reasoning will be disguised behind attempted football knowledge

the reality is that no one really knows at this point, and that in and of itself, is great

my point was KU's racism will be the reason they criticize Gill more than Weiss, no matter what the results on the field show.

Kansas State Football / Re: Bryce Brown

Bryce will get better coaching in the NFL than in college. Half as many players. Twice as many coaches. Full time job. If he puts in the effort, they will fix it much quicker than the KSU staff could have. I wish him well.
He'd better fix the fumbles quickly. He has three in two starts, LeSean McCoy, who Bryce is filling in for, has three funbles in 4 years in the league. I might be wrong, but I still think the college coaches would have fixed it quicker than the pros. They have a player from two to five years and once on scholarship they will still work with him. When the pros lose confidence in a player, they will cut him so they don't have to keep paying his salary. The good news is Bryce isn't getting paid very much. The bad news is the Eagles don't have a lot invested in him and can afford to cut him loose if he is costing them games. I too hope he does get it all figured out, he is an amazing talent.

think people have seen too much talent for the eagles to simply cut him. i assume they will try and trade him for some good draft picks. it would be hard to justify giving the job to him over McCoy, even with his lackluster year.

Not the way the Eagles have worked in the past. Duece Staley got traded because Brian Westbrook came up behind him. Brian Westbrook got traded because LeSean McCoy came up behind him. With McCoy having a lackluster, injury year, it's easy for me to see them trading McCoy because of the potential Bryce has shown.

Tiki Barber and Rashard Mendenhall were chronic fumblers that fixed their issue and had/have good NFL careers.

grumblings that the Aggieville bars expansion to KC consists of Allred signing a lease on a portion of what used to America's Pub in Westport.

would be interesting to watch if he does a Johnny Kaw's type racist bar there.

What must one do to prove she's not a sock?

you would have to hold up a handwritten sign in a picture of you sitting at your desk at your arkansas local news studio.
