Title: Super Saturday
Post by: catastrophe on October 30, 2017, 08:59:31 AM
Just checked the schedule and this is probably the best football weekend in the Big 12 this year. :excited:

KSU plays a beatable TTU team to hopefully notch its first win against a p5 team that is not a complete joke. -- 11:00 AM, FS1

Something has to give when Baylor and KU play for rights to claim bottom-feeder dominance in the conference for 2017. -- 11:00 AM, FS Regional (I think it's on TV?)

ISU looks to keep its Big 12 darling bandwagon rolling against a beatable but hungry WVU. -- 2:30 PM, ESPN 2

The Longhorns face a tough test against a reeling TCU team in their quest to keep improving throughout Herman’s first season. -- 6:15 PM, ESPN

And of course OU and OSU will decide who the Big 12 puts its hopes in for a playoff team. -- 3:00 PM, FS1

What games will you be watching?

Edit: updated with game times and channels.

I'm pretty sure they're still busting their asses in practice, film sessions, weights and condoning, and in class. Safe to say they still care and want to win.

IMO that's just what losing does, especially considering this team truly saw themselves as a Big 12 title contender before the season. I think the effort is there, but the emotion is down. Those close losses to Vandy, UT, and OU weigh on you and beating KU was probably a relief. Now we'll see if that win can give them a bit of confidence and emotion in going to play at Tech. This thing could still turn around and I could see winning 3 of the last 4. Its been kind of a Snyder trend the last couple of years.

depends on who they trot out there at qb but if we dont run it 35 times i will be pissed. A) it saves the line thats in horrid shape right now, B) all of our backs are fresh (maybe not barnes but you get where im going.) this needs to be a collin klein vs texas type game

I don't understand why we do this at all. We have a team at 3rd and 5, but line up 8 or 10 yards back. They throw a quick slant and easily get 6. It makes me want to throw things at the TV.

It is maddening that they continue to operate this way. But hey, on the bright side, at least they didn't give up any big pass plays. Not a single one. Had they, for example, given up a 60 yd TD pass late in the 4th quarter when the outcome was still in question, then yes I would understand your anger.

We had a great stunt there and Woods missed what should have been a sack. Plus a ridiculous throw there on the run.

not sure you can call it great if it produces a long touchdown to the shittiest offense in the P5.

not sure you can call it great if it produces a long touchdown to the shittiest offense in the P5.

It got Wood a free shot at the QB and he missed.

I agree giving up 400 yards passing to that offense is an embarrassment. IMO on that particular play the problem was more execution than scheme, but there are plenty of schematic issues on both sides of the ball.

Sumlin's last game (as SEC Moses syndrom takes over) @ 1200 EST ESPN
Shannon's 1st game/loss @ 1200 EST ESPN2
MSU by a lot over the Patriot wannabes @ 1200 SECN (aka what LN wishes they were)
Vandy (aka a team we wish we could beat) @ 1200 ESPU (good luck with that crap)
Ga by a huge margin @ 1530 EST CBS
Hogs contributes to us making a bowl game irrelevant @ 1600 SECN
Those relevant Wildcats also taking a step towards making us irrelevant in the post season @ 1600 SECN

and the two actually watchable games:
UA rolls. Doesn't matter the time, field or station but LSU is still going to a significant bowl and we're not. So there's that.
The Golden Eagles put the nail in Butch's coffin and the Vol nation looks southward toward Fla and wonders if Layne is available/buyable!

How much of this strategy is due to lack of speed/athletes?  Do we play with huge cushions because we'll consistently get burned deep, or do the coaches genuinely feel this style of coverage is superior regardless of personnel?

Fwiw my dad talked to Hartman a few weeks ago at a Catbackers event and asked him why Hayes plays DBs so far off. Hartman said it’s not Hayes, it’s Snyder. Snyder feels like the quarters match is the best way to play defense now and makes Hayes call it that way.

Either way I think Hayes sucks and should go but thought I’d share anyway

they're not that bad! they're 6-2, #21 in the snowbrag.

LSU will be the best team Alabama has faced this year by a hillbilly mile

look at bama's opponents so far:

#28 Fresno State
#65 Colorado State
#66 Florida State
#67 Texas A&M
#81 Mississippi
#84 Vanderbilt
*90 Tennessee
#98 Arkansas

that's right, their two best wins are sys state and mike from ft collins state.

that said, 35-17 tide

KSU-TTU shows that no matter how much your coaching staff sucks, it could be worse. Advantage Cats.

KU is truly the Baylor of this conference. Advantage Baylor.

To no one’s surprise, OU-OSU looks like it will be a close one.

ISU looking so far that giant killer =/= medium sized killer.

Quietly one of the best CFB rivalries the past decade. It won't happen this year, but the winner of this game has won the Coastal division something like 9 of 11 years. Usually a close game too.

WARNING DO NOT WATCH (VIRUS!) game of the week:

yeah, the amazing part is Nebraska wants so bad to fit into the Big 10 and all their rivalry trophies that a mascot and a fake spitting head coach twitter account is all it takes for them

They have to have the most pud schedule in all of the P5, in fact I'd bet there are AAC teams with a tougher schedule strength.

it's bad but it's not that bad. just in the same conference, minnesota has played a weaker schedule.

The Big 10 had so much preseason hype that I haven't stopped to notice how bad that conference actually is. The Big 12 is probably the most balanced conference but you'll never hear that from the cfb media.

what is going on here m8?

the b10 is all alone in 2nd place behind the SEC.

b12 most balanced? 20% of the conference is winless against FBS opponents*

*except the game where they played each other

Conference strength just stops mattering when the conference grows beyond 12 teams. Too many teams just don't play each other and there will always be enough shitty teams in any conference for most of the teams' schedules to suck.

As much as I don't want nice things for wiscy, I that much more do not want nice things for bama. So I hope 1-4 take care of business this weekend.

Last night super Saturday kicked off with a bang, as across the country literally dozens of Americans huddled around their tv sets to watch #p12ad. USC upset the snowbrag and the chamoy predictos

Late Friday afternoon CCG.  Didn't even know it was on.  Stands were half empty.  They'd do better having lead in games to Maction on Wednesdays.

This is the most overrated the sec has been since 2016.

The winner of this game gets woodshedded in the playoff.

They are classic uniforms, addidas couldn't mess them up. They used to wear these tops with orange pants and they used to wear orange tops with white pants.
