Many of our newly acquired studs do not have ESPN rating until a few days after they commit.  With the comes a little scouting report.  Here's the ESPN scouting reports for our current commits.  While ESPN ratings have traditionally been  :flush:, I do enjoy the scouting reports and read them with a grain of salt.

Alex Delton:

OVERALL TRAITS
Size-Strength-Mobility
Possesses just average height on a sturdy, well-built frame. Shows some bulk and strength as a passer and runner. Has a compact build due to his average height. Is a very good overall athlete with good speed for the position and excellent foot quickness. Is a dual-threat capable of being a designated runner or an improviser when things break down, but is clearly a passer first. Should be considered a runner, not the runner.

Mental-Makeup
Has a playmaker's mentality and will surprise you with his natural abilities as a passer. Is a bit of a sandlot feel to him, but he's efficient in his methods. Is definitely poised and plays with confidence. Can operate well from under center or from the shotgun. He is very confident in where to go with the football based off of pre-snap reads. Is still progressing when required to work to his second or third option. Is most in command when moving the launch point and throwing on the perimeter. Has a swagger.  :billdance:

Accuracy
Has a tendency to throw off his back foot or without his feet being set. Can also get into rhythm and be very impressive with his arm. Isn't always sound with his footwork, but has some sandlot traits that compensate. Transfers his weight well and aligns nicely with the target. As with most improvisers, accuracy can waver based on feet. Throws a catchable ball with zip and is very accurate on the move throwing low and away when necessary. Flashes the ability to throw guys open with good anticipation.

Release/Arm Strength
Possesses a consistent, over-the-top, but compact delivery. Can sling the ball just a little bit. His methods are not always consistent, but the end result generally is. Can drop the ball off quickly and beat the rush with release. Arm strength shows RPMs, but not elite power. Can make most college level throws if feet are set. Loses a bit of power on deeper vertical throws. He's really good when dinking and dunking and will surprise you with some zip on intermediate throws into tight spots especially when on the move.

Bottom Line
Delton is not a player that will consistently wow you with his physical traits, but will surprise you at times with his ability to run and throw with the occasional spectacular play. Is a constant factor with his feet to break contain and keep plays alive which makes him dangerous on the perimeter. Makes a lot of plays for this offense and is a great fit for the spread offense that wants the quarterback to be a part of the running game. Should receive a lot of mid-major attention and may see some from bottom to middle tier programs from the big five conferences.

Junior Eval
STRENGTHS: An athletically gifted young player who has great footspeed for a college prospect. He has shown to have no problem hitting the open receiver, with a clear understanding of leading the receiver to the ball and hitting him on the correct shoulder. He has no problem getting the ball downfield when he's on the run. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: He must do a better job of using his legs to step into the throw, as right now he is pretty much all arm. A little mechanical work on his upper body is necessary too, especially so that he can shorten up his release and not have as much of a windup leading into the throw. ... BOTTOM LINE: Delton has a lot of natural gifts that will make him a highly-touted recruit, but he needs to put in a little more mechanical work in order to maximize his potential as a college quarterback. He doesn't have a problem with accuracy whatsoever, but it certainly wouldn't hurt him to make the mentioned adjustments and help his timing.

Scott Franz

OVERALL TRAITS

Size-Strength-Athleticism
Frantz dominates his present level of competition as a run blocker; possesses the size, strength and athleticism for the power conference level of play; his frame should be able to support additional bulk over time. We see a prospect who plays on his feet, showing the balance and agility needed to handle change of direction and tight space movement.

Pass Protection
His reach and active hands are positives; demonstrates the ability to play from a three point stance, showing the nimble feet needed to stay in front and recover when in trouble; does a good job short setting to control straight on power moves; can bend and slide to the deep set point without getting over extended. Although all aspects of hand use need refinement, we like his punch and effort to keep the hands inside.

Run Blocking
This guy is a tough run blocker who comes off the ball hard and aggressive; plays with a good fit and balanced blocking base; flashes the ability to knock defenders back on their heels. Does a good job blocking angles, showing the foot quickness needed to gain and sustain an advantage. This lineman shows both pull/trap and second level ability vs. linebackers; is very effective playing on his feet in space.

Toughness
We see a very tough competitor who does an outstanding job of finishing blocks; appears to enjoy punishing defenders well down the field.

Bottom Line
Frantz is a very physical run and pass blocker; if a red shirt year is not deemed necessary, he could provide depth at the tackle spot.

Chase Johnston

OVERALL TRAITS
Size-Strength-Range
Johnston is an athletic guy with good playing strength and toughness; has the size and range/playing speed for the inside linebacker position at the Power Conference level of play; possesses the balance and agility needed to avoid and make tight space plays. We like his length and feel this prospect should be able to add solid bulk over time.

Instincts/Take On Skills
Combines instincts and key/diagnose skills to play his position efficiently; isn't fooled by misdirection or play action fakes. Is a downhill run stopper who shows good run blitz timing; has the take on playing strength needed to defeat tight space blockers and stack the inside run. Flashes the ability to defeat the edge block forcing runs to bounce outside; does a good job of playing laterally, displaying good movement over trash and through traffic to the sideline.

Tackling
This guy is a tough customer with a nonstop motor. Is a high wrap tackler who brings the arms and lower torso through on contact; is a knock'em back hitter, capable of generating short space power. Comes to balance in space, not allow garbage yards after contact.

3rd Down Capabilities
Flashes as an underneath zone coverage defender; will need to gain coverage experience however we like his quick reactions to the perimeter screen game. Shows good inside blitz timing along with a relentless pursuit effort.

Bottom Line
Johnston's toughness and ability to run should prove effective as a special team's player; will need to gain coverage experience which will require time and perhaps the need for a red shirt year.

Kalin Heath

OVERALL TRAITS

Size-Strength-Speed
Heath has good size for a RB. He is tall enough that he could be considered for another position as well as a RB. His weight is such that he has a solid foundation upon which to build and could be really big after some weight training. Plays with good strength as he carries defenders with him as he runs. His speed is not special but it does allow him some long gainers.

Vision/Patience
Sees the game well. Understands blocking schemes and then is able to run with the patience that allows the plays to develop. Demonstrates he has a burst and can slide into and out of situations that end up creating positive gains.

Agility/Acceleration
Shows he can control his body well, especially for a taller RB. He displays good balance and bend in his knees. He is able to function low to the ground and make cuts with quick feet and good balance you would not expect him to be able to execute.

Power/Balance
Shows good body lean which enable him to carry some defenders in certain situations. Runs with his pads in front of him and is able to bounce off defenders without going to the ground. Runs with good leg drive.

Bottom Line
Heath is a good RB and also is just starting to play some defense which makes a LB spot a possibility for the future. His athleticism and ability to be an all-around RB make him a good choice for a mid-level power conference school.

Junior Eval
STRENGTHS: A balanced downhill runner that shows the ability to be a carry the load type back. Runs with good pad level and will push the pile for extra yards. A high YAC guy. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Currently lacks good long speed and the short burst to make defenders miss in space. Good once in the open field but struggles to get to the edge and turn the run up field. ... BOTTOM LINE: Heath is a player that may be recruited for his athletic ability and could see a move to TE or H-back. His size and physical skill set should make him a productive player at the next level.

Isaiah Zuber

OVERALL TRAITS

Size-Strength-Speed
Possesses a slender and wiry build with adequate-to-good height. Is a pretty smooth and flexible athlete that is quicker than fast and lacks strength and physicality at this stage. Needs to develop and the weight room. Is not a true jet.

Separation Skills
Is quicker than fast and is mostly utilized out of the slot where he doesn't get many downfield opportunities. Is mostly employed on short underneath routes and bubble screens. Does not have a complex route tree yet. His quickness is an asset into and out of breaks but he lacks separation speed.

Ball Skills
Has very quick hands and is a confident pass catcher. Is a natural hand plucker to consistently extends away from his frame and above his head to haul in passes. Is not a prospect with physical stature but he will compete in a crowd to catch the ball and is a good leaper capable of making plays on the jump ball.

Big Play Ability
Is somewhat limited in this area. For a prospect that shows quickness and flexibility he doesn't make as many plays after the catch to extend the ball as you might think. Doesn't have a lot of opportunities in this offense to showcase homerun ability. May lack the top end speed to be a consistent vertical threat. He's a catch and run guy.

Bottom Line
Zuber is more of a possession player out of the slot. He possesses some redeeming traits and catches the football consistently. Is it the most dynamic prospect that does have value when it comes to securing the ball. Will likely see the bulk of his attention come at the mid-major level with some interest from bottom tier programs in the big five conferences.

Junior Eval
STRENGTHS: Zuber has good height and weight for a receiver. Shows good speed. Will go up and attack the football. Displays the quickness to threaten defensive back off the line. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Will need to increase his bulk. Does not show the strength to be consistent in running through tackles. Lacks elusiveness to make multiple defenders miss. ... BOTTOM LINE: Zuber has good upside. Will need to make improvements to his game and get stronger but should land with a program that will utilize his strengths as a receiver.

Adam Holtrorf

OVERALL TRAITS
Size-Strength-Speed
Holtrorf is a tough, productive defensive lineman who also shows run blocking skills as an offensive tackle. Has the size, strength and athleticism for the defensive end position at the power conference level of play; shows dominant playing strength vs. his present level of competition; although we feel his lateral playing speed and range must improve, we like his ability to play change direction and make tight space plays.

Versus the Run
Plays a little high at times and must improve his first step quickness however we like his read and react skills when defending against the inside/outside run; works his hands inside showing good shiver and shed ability; disengages and doesn't get stuck on blocks; shows the athleticism needed to keep his feet free and play over thrash; does a good job of flattening to the football.

Pass Rush Skills
We like his active feet and upper body playing strength; shows the straight on power needed to bring pressure up the middle and collapse the pocket. There is the need to develop a repertoire of moves while improving his closing burst to the quarterback.

Toughness/Motor
This guy is tough competitor with a nonstop motor; shows an outstanding desire to chase down the football. Does a very good job of tackling in tight spaces. Is a high wrap tackler who brings his lower body through on contact to punish quarterbacks and ball carriers; doesn't allow cheap yards after contact.

Bottom Line
Holtorf shows good athletic skills as an offensive tackle; can improve his first step quickness however we like his one on one drive blocking ability; comes off the ball with a good fit and blocking base; gains and sustains an advantage, demonstrating the balance and agility needed to play on his feet in space; is a strong, punishing finisher; runs well enough to play on teams; has a blocked punt to his credit. Some time and a red shirt year will be needed to polish his skills.

Josh Little

OVERALL TRAITS

Size-Strength-Speed
Little is a strong, physical football player with good height for the defensive end position at the Power Conference level of play; flashes the ability to change direction and make tight space plays although we detect some stiffness in space; does a very good job of pursuing flat down the line; must add bulk to his frame over time.

Versus the Run
Shows good upper body arm and shoulder strength when taking on blocks; must learn to work the hands inside and play with lower pad level. Is a strong point of attack run stopper who also flashes the first step quickness needed to gain penetration; feels and reacts to pressure, displaying a quick spin move which brings him flat down the line vs. the outside run.

Pass Rush Skills
Combines straight on power with edge quickness; flashes the balance and agility needed to squeeze/leverage the top of the pocket. His active feet and effort are positives however there is the need to take advantage of his hand quickness by developing a repertoire of moves.

Toughness/Motor
This guy is a tough, persistent competitor who refuses to stay blocked; shows consistent effort chasing down and pursuing the football. We see a high wrap and punish tackler; is capable of generating short space power; uses his length effectively while not allowing garbage yards after contact.

Bottom Line
We feel Little possesses the toughness and physicality needed to play at the Power Conference level of competition. However some time and most likely a red shirt year will be needed to add bulk while improving athleticism and technique.

Denzel Goolsby

OVERALL TRAITS

Size-Strength-Speed
Goolsby has the size and quickness for the running back position at the Power Conference level of play; flashes lower body pull through strength however this is an area which must improve. Shows quicker than fast playing speed, lacking a breakaway burst.

Vision/Patience
Displays good vision to the hole, doing a good job of locating and getting into tight space creases; is a patient runner who follows his blockers efficiently.

Agility/Acceleration
Although he tends to narrow his base, we like his balance and agility; is a difficult guy to knock off his feet; a shifty runner in traffic, showing the lateral elusiveness needed to make defenders miss and extend runs.

Power/Balance
Runs upright in traffic but doesn't back away from contact; is a good finisher, showing toughness along the sideline. Not yet a carry the load, move the pile running back at this stage of his development however we like his effort getting into the end zone.

Bottom Line
Goolsby is a very productive route runner from the slot alignment; runs an elementary package efficiently (post, seam, drag); can plant and mover defenders while also showing good awareness, knowing when to throttle down and not cover himself. Is a competitive hands catcher willing to work in traffic and take a hit; displays elusive, quicker than fast run after catch playing speed. Is also productive returning punts, demonstrating the ability to make first tacklers miss and find a crease for positive yardage; most likely will need a red shirt year prior to challenging for playing time at the next level.

I wasn't worried like some of the chicken little's on this board.  Vanderbilt is the KU of the SEC.
I would be more worried of KU if James Franklin were head coach.
Last I heard, he isn't.  Now if these guys were visiting Penn State then... :ohno:

Kind of excited to see Zuber do more work recruiting.

well, zuber is visiting this week, and bringing his bud, duke shelley with him
