In a world...
where the BigXII conference didn't exist.  In 2010, the Pac-10 became the Pac-16 with the addition of UT, OU, OSU, TTU, CU, and TA&M.  Kansas State, along with KU, ISU and Baylor headed off to the Mountain West Conference.  The MWC was currently receiving national attention because Utah, TCU and Boise St. were killing it in their post-season bowl games.  With the arrival of four former BigXII teams, the prestige of the conference immediately skyrocketed with the addition of power football and elite basketball programs.  MWC was able to create a conference championship game, negotiate a sweet TV deal with ESPN and received an automatic BCS bowl birth.

The scenario is all laid out in this article I somehow scrounged up.  Found here http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865595018/Commentary-What-if-Boise-State-BYU-TCU-and-Utah-had-all-stayed-in-the-Mountain-West.html?pg=all

I really think this would've been a great setup for the Katz.  Imagine traveling to beautiful mountain states instead of Lubbock for away games.  Not only that, but the MWC is a real 5 heart type conference.  Collin Klein still would've played for KSU too, being from Colorado.  I also think that KSU would be dominating that conference year-in and year-out.

It's like he doesn't even know we're tied for the lead in the conference right now.

Well, I my alternative timeline, KSU wins every nat'l champy in all sports since 1988. There are no wars, and water fountains are all replaced with gin fountains.

I should point out that in this timeline that there is a disease which afflicts one out of every million humans and gives them the power of flight, but their arms fall off.

Someone tell that dude that in his alternate universe Utah players still do stupid things like drop the ball before they actually reach the endzone. (probably)

There's only one difference in my alternate universe. It's a beautiful place where Bishop took a knee when he had first-down yardage.

I would have spent a year making fun of the small timey programs in the MWC, maybe taken a few road trips to pak and then slowly stop caring about college sports very much.

Yeah.

Alternate _FANverse has a pair of NCs in football. Wins over Tennessee and Notre Dame. Mixed in between is a basketball NC in that epic title win over Duke. Topped off with a Royals World Series just this past year.

Its pretty great guys.

In my alternate timeline we're actually worse in sports but academically we're really, really good.  It's kind of weird.
