I could pick my own coffee, age it, roast it, brew it.  ALL BY HAND!  I sure hope the power shuts off at my sister's house too because the shitty manicupality she lives in won't spend any $ on infrastructure.  Oh boy!

no heavy metal, only reggaeton. unless you are out of the city, and then you have more traditional music.
coffee and bananas and black beans are just everywhere, along with feral dogs. and roosters.
don't drink any water, don't flush your TP.
enjoy some Gallo and for goodness sakes, wake up early and enjoy a beautiful sunrise. or stay up late on a rooftop and look at all the stars.
are you going to antigua with the tourists, or staying in the city, or going to lake atitlan area?

The main reason for the trip is to visit with my sis and her new baby boy.  She is very home sick but can't get away from her job till January.  Her house is near Santa Lucia and her husband is native to Guatemala.  They said something about a lake, I'm just going to go with the flow.

well, it's often rainy in January, but there's a drought, so maybe it won't rain much. Are you visiting? I don't know what you want to know. You're so crazy, kim carnes.

Not in January.

I had no idea there were so many Guatemalans in KC until the USMNT played the at Sporting Park.  Had a little 4 year old yell at me "what is wrong with Guatemala?!?!"....I was like "nothing kid"

Who has been to Alaska? What are fun things to do there? I like the outdoors and eating good food so ideas in those categories would be helpful.

I went to Anchorage in college for a conference.  It was late November.  It was interesting, but I didn't really get to do much.  I remember being surprised at how small it felt.  It felt like Topeka.  However, it was still cool just to experience it.  I've wanted to go back, but not sure what to do besides a fishing trip.  If you're not going on a fishing trip I'd think about a cruise.

I'm glad to call you a close personal friend of mine. Can you imagine all the fun we'd have sitting in silence at the lodge bar while #haf?

anchorage is great. there are tons of things to do outdoorsy. just get online and find something touristy, like a helicopter tour that takes you out to a glacier or something like that. or, just rent a car and drive. drive drive drive. it's ridiculously beautiful, particularly in the summer.

food -
moose's tooth pub and pizza. they have a brewery and it is good. also their pizza is amazing and widely accepted as the best in anchorage.
glacier brewhouse. also very good. a little fancier.
humpy's - good bar food and bar, popular spot
midnight sun brewing co - it's in a warehouse, great beer, great food. be careful as they're only allowed to serve you three beers. i managed to get to five before anyone said anything.
