I thought the "champions bowl" was just the sugar bowl for years that it isn't in the playoff or whatever.

Screw that. There will be no "would takes" from me unless it says playoffs.  :don'tcare: Ask me again after our second loss.
I once blew clove smoke in a guy's face that cut in front of me in the line to KJ's.

after some interneting i found that you are in fact correct. i was under the assumption that the champions bowl was separate from the sugar

The decision to lock in an SEC and Big 12 team into the Sugar Bowl, which is what the game will be called, is a byproduct of the new four-team playoff system where six bowl games will rotate as semifinal sites. Bowl games are basically allowed to make their own deals with conferences in years they aren't hosting the playoffs.

still worth celebrating just on the improvement of location alone.  The fact there will be no more UCFs or Uconns for our league champ is icing on the cake.

so in the year that the Sugar is part of the playoff and the Big 12 champ is not part of the 4 team playoff what happens?  Big 12 champ in the Alamo?

none I think

In years when the bowls are not part of the playoff bracket, the highest-ranked non-playoff teams from the following conferences or groups will be selected as follows:[25]

Rose Bowl — Big Ten #1 vs. Pac-12 #1
Sugar Bowl — SEC #1 vs. Big 12 #1
Orange Bowl — ACC #1 vs. SEC #2, Big Ten #2, or Notre Dame
Chick-fil-A Bowl — at-large or "Group of Five"
Cotton Bowl — at-large or "Group of Five"
Fiesta Bowl — at-large or "Group of Five"
