Kansas State Football / Re: Dimel tracker
« on: September 26, 2020, 11:36:24 PM »
Dimel won at Wyoming as HC (22-13 in 3 years at a hard place to win) and got a raw deal at Houston (went from 0-11 second year to 5-7 third year and got fired because of a new AD). Then, Art Briles came in and went 16-20 in first three years before going 10-4 in fourth year. And, the rest is history.

Point is, Dimel could produce 8-4 type seasons at UTEP and that would be successful there.

If Dimel did produce 8-4 type seasons at UTEP, they'll build a damn statue of him there.

I believe they figured out Rattler's "tell" on his progression when it came to passing plays.  Because in the 4th quarter, Rattler was rattled, and played like a 1 star recruit.

Sean - Definitely Automatic Gone.  Obvious is obvious, and he's part of the problem.
Coleman - Gone.  Playcalling has been pure dog crap.
Klein - Indifferent.  He'd best go to different schools to learn different types of offenses and to improve his coaching abilities.
Z. Hanson - Indifferent.  Can't say much about him.
Hickson - Indifferent.  See above.
Seiler - Stay.  There's potential there.
Norwood - Indifferent.  Can't say much about him.
Fabris - Gone.  Haven't really done much, plus he's old.
Mo - Definitely Automatic Gone.  He hasn't done crap in the recruiting trail as far as I know.

S&C:
Dawson - Gone.  Haven't been impressed with him as it seems like our guys are just getting dinged up and haven't really noticed any of the players actually, you know, gotten bigger.

You're also forgetting Dickey.  Him, I'm indifferent.

So what kind of offense does this guy run? Can he turn sky into an NFL qb?

I truly believe Sky will do very well in Seth's offense than this crap show that we just saw this year.

YES exactly, I heard this from statements Snyder made after he came back.  Didn't he explain this in a book about him?

Not sure, but that wouldn’t surprise me. He told me why he hung it up at a Chamber dinner in South Central KS in 2007(?), and I remember him mentioning it when he came back.

I believe it was mentioned on the "They Said It Couldn't Be Done" book.  I don't have it here on my hand, but I'm certain it was mentioned there.

Just can't put words to how I feel.  On one hand, I'm grateful that he came to Kansas State and made us relevant from the disasters of pre 1988.

But on the other hand, I also am glad that he is aware that it's time.

Thanks, Coach.

I wonder if another reasons to think about the decline of KS kids in the Junior College routes is that they don't specialize on football on a consistent basis, like how Texas/Florida HSAA rules are.

Another to consider is the location of the school.  El Dorado is not too far off from Wichita, and it's a decent sized town/city, compared to Highland.

Long time ago Tom, I watched 9/11 happen while I was there
Who were the QBs back then?

Highland CC graduate here, Class of 2001.

1999 - Brian Caler
2000 - Jeff Abbott.
My boy was there in 2003 & 2004.  Played QB then moved to Safety.

Yeah, that was after I left.  I think Marty Allen and/or Greg Delziet was still coaching there.  I think Allen retired after the 2004 season.

My son played at Highland 13-14.  At that time they had 85 scholarships (tuition/books only).  The in season roster was 63 players.  The roster was 43 in State and 20 out state.

The game then was you recruited OL/DL in state and skill guys were out state HS or D1 bounce backs.

Initially they attempted to up out state limits but met resistance from kansas hs coaches.  I am not sure what's transpired since then.

I believe 20 out of state is still the norm?  I couldn't remember what the rule was in 2000-2001, but I would anticipate that the max out of state scholarships was 20 at the time, but I could be wrong.

I'm worried about the Fighting Bye's tenancy to run the football down our throats....

Kansas State Football / Re: FIRE SNYDER AT HALFTIME
« on: September 26, 2018, 11:25:05 PM »
Maybe it’s the assistant coaches that should be fired; it seems to me that Snyder has this right by wanting to go with Delton.  It’s the dumbass assistants who want to keep rolling with Thompson, despite the pathetic performance we have seen from our offense so far this season.

I just hope our assistants call play suited for Delton.

Delton can run, nobody's denying that trait, but his passing game leaves a lot to be desired.  He hasn't shown the capability to read the defense and make correct throws/plays.  Plus he has the issue of staring down at a receiver several times.  He has 2 INT's for the year, but I know that number could have been higher had the defenders not dropped the ball.

If K-State have any realistic chance of winning any games, they'd need to go to the Army/Navy/Air Force offense route and run the ball, without killing their QB in the process, which is literally impossible.  And they really really really need to stop making Barnes go sideways.

Take it easy people, he wants to develop as a player. Pro ambitions and figured K-State was best for that.

Interesting choice though, considering the Cats don't utilize their TE's in the passing game as much as they should.

True, but I'm guessing there aren't a ton of offenses that use a tight end for even blocking, we have at least one in on damn near every set.

My hope is, now the Cats have stated that Skyler is the QB1 going forward, is the TE's will be utilized more on the passing game.

Umm.

Welp.  So much for that.
