Good basketball players were recognized at half time
Luke's stock is rising as Winters continues to validate his greatness. Add Luke and Winters to my list! Also, EMAWBLAST! and Tobias!

Wade, Sneed, Diarra, Mawien - very good.

Wainwright - good.

Stokes, Brown, Sallah - okay.

American - bad, not proud to be...

Team could be pretty decent. We'll know a lot more after the Thanksgiving trip. Beat Arizona State and Xavier (or just compete with X) and I'll start gaining some confidence.

Fan I was impressed by how well the 4 big post players moved big upgrade from Bullnuts and xWhomper.  Maurice seem to be in a dope fog and Williams had poor foot work.  This is the best post players we have had in a long time.  I think guard depth is going to be good.  It is scary to think Diarra has only been playing for just a few years.   Sneed and Claws my goodness.   People this is a very good team.

Mawien and Sallah both did some nice things. They also both have some bad habits that won't work vs better competition. For example, Mawien always has to take a power dribble even though he's a few feet from the basket when he receives interior passes. He will not get away with that from good defensive bigs in this league or other decent teams. Plus, he doesn't seem real adept at drawing fouls. Overall I was pleased with their energy on the boards and they did some things that will translate well in the Big 12. Plus, there simply aren't a lot of teams that have really good bigs anymore.

We had a high number of really dumb turnovers tonight. Silly, unforced errors. Granted, that was really my only big complaint for the team.

Also, American was without one of their better returning players.

I hate to say it, but we might be somewhat good. Top 5 Big 12 finish. The post players were way better than I expected. Diarra is good. Dean was awesome. I'm with _Fan. I'll buy in if we beat someone worth a darn.

This is an honest question, because I was only halfway paying attention last night. All I recall of Diarra is 2 or 3 out of control drives thru the lane where he didn't score. So just curious what else he did. Mawien seemed competent, so that is somewhat encouraging. It was nice to see a big lead without needing the guards (Brown, Stokes) to score.

No, rest of team looks disappointingly similar to the low major opponents

Yeah, he's going to have to learn when to drive, but I like the aggressiveness. 4-4 from 3 with 4 assists is still decent despite the 4 TOs though.

1. Sneed showing significant improvement
2. Cartier being a factor, Having that productive guard coming off the bench
3. Steady play of rebounding, decent defense, an occasional offense from Mawein/Sallah
4. The 3 experienced juniors each taking a step forward, with their play & leadership

That's the 4 things I am hopeful will happen this year

I guess I wasn't paying attention. That makes me feel better.

Sad to have missed watching. I am hopeful the non-com gives those guys some opportunity for real improvement.

Thanks for the rundown with actual names
Yes. This.

[you], I hope you're having a great day!
Lol, is that your new sig SDK? I am having a good day...in downtown Chicago having some local pizza getting ready to stream the second half of the cats when I get back to the hotel! I wish the same to you, even if you're being ironic.

I know he's been a skeptic, but I just want to know what [you] thinks of this team so far. Maybe a decent group in Sneed, Wade, Brown, Stokes, and Diarra. :dunno:
To tell you the truth Fan, I haven't watched a lick of the Cats this year. New job, child, and shitty football got me like "whoa" on the Cats. I trust your insights though and will comment on this thread when I feel qualified.

Shitty preseason attendance isn't just a Cats exclusive.

Anyone see that we are a dog to 2-win Vandy, according to ESPN? They give us a 38% chance @ Vandy at this point. Those of you who looked into this a bit, is that a  legit line?

kenpom has it as a coin flip.

To be fair, their losses are to decent teams. It's still a game the Cats should win if we are any good this year.
